Jazz Bridge Microgrants – Phase I

Thank you to everyone who requested an application to the Jazz Bridge Microgrants. Thanks to a recent foundation grant and the generosity of our supporters, we were able to offer 10 $500 grants to Greater Philadelphia Jazz and Blues musicians who have lost income due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

These funds will assist these artists with rent/mortgage, utilities, food, healthcare and basic daily needs. Most who applied were not known to Jazz Bridge except on a stage and had not received any help from us in the past.

Plans for Phase 2 of Jazz Bridge COVID19 Micro-grant Program are in the works after the new year. All of us at Jazz Bridge are happy to be there in a time of greater need, especially now.

This coming Wednesday Phyllis Chapell & Siora
Join us on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 7 pm as Jazz Bridge, in partnership with PNC Arts Alive, will present a virtual concert with vocalist/guitarist, Phyllis Chapell & Siora, to premier on Jazz Bridge’s website, https://www.jazzbridge.org/what-we-do/concert-series/ and scroll down and click on WATCH NOW! (The link to the concert will appear approximately at 7 pm)

Phyllis Chapell & SIORA features the dynamic presence of vocalist/guitarist Phyllis Chapell, named one of the top 500 jazz vocalists of all time by Scott Yanow (Downbeat/JazzTimes). Rounding out the ensemble are some of the most stellar musicians in the region: Dave Posmontier on keys, David Brodie on bass, and Jimmy Coleman on drums. Their repertoire draws from many of the great music traditions of the world—Brazil and Latin America, the Middle East, Europe, as well as the U.S. A.— and they add to the mix some award-winning provocative original compositions.

This concert was recorded at WRTI Studios, 1509 Cecil B. Moore Avenue, 3rd Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19121 and in partnership with PNC Arts Alive. The concerts can be viewed for free, but donations will support our programs for musicians.
