Rev. Patricia Hart, FUUSB Yuuth Group

"Growing Into Ourselves"
In a world full of challenge and difference, how do people learn to respect one another? Or - at least as important - how do we learn to respect ourselves? Telling and reflecting on wise stories helps. Our First UU Yuuth Group will share their own story and wisdom.

The service will include a virtual celebration of the annual Flower Communion - featuring pictures many of you sent of flowers, springtime, and your beautiful selves!

Flower Communion on the Meeting House Grounds

Rev. Patricia Hart, Developmental Senior Minister

We will be celebrating our beloved annual flower ceremony virtually during this Sunday's worship service. And because we need joy and beauty and connection more than ever, there will also be flower communion outside the Meeting House for all who stop by.

Starting around 10 a.m., there will be a table with vases of flowers near the sign in the front yard. Anyone will be welcome to come and take a flower - members, friends, neighbors - and perhaps to leave one as well. Peggy Derby, of FUUSB's flower team, has volunteered to keep adding blossoms as long as they last. If you can, please stop by and bring a flower or two!

Of course, everyone is strongly encouraged to wear face coverings and stay at least six feet apart as we take care of one another and the community.

While at the Meeting House, families with children (and everyone else) are invited to follow a "Story Path" around the grounds, telling the story of the first Flower Communion in Prague. Erika Reif created this installation, which will remain in place for at least a week for the enjoyment of our congregation and other passersby.

I am very grateful to Peggy, David McFeeters for setting this up, and especially to Erika for these wonderful ideas!

Annual Meeting - Sunday, June 7
Christina Fulton, Director of Operations & Finance

This year's annual meeting will be historic. We will be meeting via Zoom! By this time, if you are a voting member, you should have already received your warning in the mail. This year we will be voting on four items: 1) Approve the minutes from last year's annual meeting, 2) Approve the slate of nominations, 3) Approve a request from the Property Team to use Meeting House Fund money to do maintenance on the Meeting House, and 4) Approve the 2020/2021 Fiscal Year Budget. We need to have at least 45 members at the meeting to reach a quorum, so please plan to attend on  Sunday, June 7 at 11 a.m.

Please note that Registration opens at 10:30 a.m. When you check into the Zoom meeting you will be put into a waiting room. You may be there for a little while; please be patient. You will then be put into a registration room with a staff member who will check you in.

Having an annual meeting via Zoom is actually a bit complicated, but we have done the research, practiced, and are confident that we can do this and do it well. We are asking for everyone's patience and kindness as we navigate this new way of doing Annual Meeting.

Along with the warning, you also received some  Annual Meeting Instructions. Please read these over now and become familiar with them. It is important that you have used Zoom on your device prior to the meeting. If you have not used Zoom before, please come to the Virtual Coffee Hour on May 31 to get some practice.

You can find links to the Summary Budget, the Annual Meeting Instructions and Warning, and the Annual Report on our website:  uusociety.org/members/meeting-minutes/

We look forward to seeing you!

General Assembly - It's Not Too Late!
Christina Fulton, Director of Operations & Finance

General Assembly (GA) will be held from June 24-28 and will be a 100% virtual event! Have you ever wondered what GA is all about? Well, this is your chance to check it out from your very own home. Learn all about GA at the UUA website: uua.org/ga. Registration is still open and is only $150: uua.org/ga/registration. FUUSB still has scholarship money available if you need help with the registration fee.

All GA registrants have access to the GA Virtual Participation Portal, which combines multiple modes of participant engagement that include chat, Q&A, and polling. Registrants are able to watch and ask questions in live sessions including workshops and business sessions. Delegates will also be able to propose amendments in the live business sessions, participate in debates, and vote in general sessions.

FUUSB has 15 scholarships available to pay for your GA Registration fee. If you would like a scholarship, please email Christina at [email protected] as soon as possible. You will need to register on your own, and we will send you a check to reimburse you for the fee.

FUUSB has 10 Delegates (members who can vote at GA). If you plan to attend GA Business sessions and would like to be a delegate, please email Christina at [email protected]. For more information about being a delegate, check out the UUA webiste: uua.org/ga/congregations/delegates
