Apply to Serve on the Board of Education
March 18, 2020

Dear Lake Forest School District 67 Resident:

Board of Education member Mike Borkowski has announced his resignation from the Board effective March 17, 2020. He has served our school district since 2013 in a variety of leadership capacities, including Board President. He will be greatly missed.

Under the Illinois School Code, the responsibility for filling a vacancy, which occurs before the next scheduled school board election, falls to the remaining board members. We have 60 days from the date of a resignation to accomplish this or the responsibility shifts to the Regional Superintendent of Schools. This vacancy is for the remainder of Mr. Borkowski's term that ends in April 2021, when the position will be up for election.

We would like to have as open a selection process as possible. To this end, we want to encourage as many interested and qualified individuals to apply. If you are interested, please contact Board Clerk Eileen Faller at efaller@lfschools.net , or use one of the links below to submit an application.

Completed applications must be received on-line or by mail no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.  Once applications have been reviewed by the Board of Education, it is anticipated that selected candidates will be interviewed shortly thereafter, with installation to the Board of Education at a Special Board meeting on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

We are hoping to find a person whose talents, interests and experience will add to and complement those of the existing Board members. Since only one person can be selected, we hope the process outlined above will give the Board a list of prospects for future community involvement in school matters and projects.

If you have questions regarding the process, or what is involved in being a District 67 School Board member, please contact Board Clerk Eileen Faller.

Sincerely,

Richard Chun, Board Member
District 67 Board of Education
