Toyota and Hino To Develop Class 8 Fuel Cell Truck
|
|
Toyota, a Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition sponsor, has announced that they are working with Hino USA to develop a zero-emission Class 8 fuel cell truck. The platform will be the Hino XL Series, and the power will be provided by the now well established Toyota fuel cell technology. The first demonstration truck is expected to arrive in mid-2021.

US EPA Concerned About Grid Following Order Preventing Gasoline Car Sales After 2035
|
|
US EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler has indicated that the federal government is concerned that Governor Newsom’s Executive Order preventing gasoline car sales after 2035 could be problematic for the electrical grid in California and may be subject to a federal government waiver.

Ford eF150 Can Be Ordered With Small Generator

|
The Ford eF150 electric pickup truck will apparently have a unique accessory that you’ll be able to order, a small generator disguised as a toolbox capable of extending the truck’s range.The generator would run on gasoline but Ford also envisions generators that would run on propane or diesel.

Volvo's First BEV Has Begun Production

Volvo’s first BEV, the XC40 Recharge, a close competitor to the Tesla Model X, has begun production in Belgium and is expected to begin US deliveries in January, 2021. The Volvo SUV will have a 78kWh battery pack, front and rear 150hp motors and a 200+ mile range.

GM is reportedly seeking to gain more control over Nikola, following unsubstantiated reports that recently dismissed CEO, Trevor Milton, exaggerated Nikola’s technological achievements. GM has planned to build the EV “Badger” pickup truck and the Nikola Tre and Nikola One Class 8 trucks.

ChargePoint Installing Over 4,000 Truck Stop Chargers
|

ChargePoint, a major supplier of EVSE and charge management systems is partnering with the National Association of Truck Stop Operators to install charging sites at over 4,000 truck stop plazas around the US.

Tire Wear Contributes to Particulant Matter
|
|
Ultrafine Particulate Matter (PM 2.5) from tire wear accounts for up to 50% of the particulate matter that residents in metro areas breathe. These particles have a static electric charge, and an innovative device developed at the Imperial College London would collect the particles as they slough off the tire and store them in a cartridge. The particles could be reused making new tires.

Electric Buses in Anaheim Get Charging as a Service Agreement
|
|
AMPLY Power, a “Charging as a Service” provider, has signed a 20-year agreement with Anaheim Transportation Network to manage their charging system design, installation, equipment purchase, operations and maintenance for a fixed price per kWh consumed.

Hydrogen week begins this week, and because the atomic weight of hydrogen is 1.008, 10/8 is being celebrated as National Hydrogen Day by the DOE’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Office in the Department of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

California Refineries: For the week ending 9/25/20, refineries in California produced 277,662 gallons of gasoline and 92,736 gallons of diesel. Gasoline and diesel production were essentially unchanged from last week’s production numbers. The 10/5/20 wholesale spot price of propane on the Mont Belvieu Texas board was 51¢ per gallon.
