ODOT Completes Feasibility Study
for SR 32 Improvements in the
Village of Newtown
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has completed a feasibility study of improvements that have been proposed to make travel along SR 32 through the Village of Newtown easier and safer.

The study and its recommendations are now posted on the Eastern Corridor website for public review. Included in the study report is a summary of information shared at a virtual public open house held earlier this year. All comments and questions received during the open house and subsequent public comment period, as well as ODOT's responses to each, are also included in the report. Thank you to all who participated!
SR 32 Improvements in Newtown
Roadway improvements being planned along SR 32 within the Village of Newtown will address congestion and safety concerns through intersection improvements and adjustments to travel lanes. In addition, several shared-use path options have been developed to provide safe travel alternatives for walkers, runners, and bicyclists, and to provide an improved connection towards the Little Miami Scenic Trail.

Based on project data and feedback received during the virtual open house, ODOT recommends proceeding with Alternative 1 for bike/pedestrian improvements. Also, in response to comments received, the project team will investigate modifying the roadway improvement alternative to reduce all lane widths to no more than 11 feet and will investigate a possible at-grade railroad crossing for the shared-use path connection to Lake Barber.

ODOT is now working with the Village of Newtown to complete project designs and identify funding sources. Construction is likely to be divided into phases which will allow work to begin as funding becomes available.
