Parent Update - Home of the Bullfrogs
A Note From Mrs. Yacek
Good afternoon LRES Families,

October is a very busy month for staff and students at LRES. The fire department started visiting with classrooms this week for their lessons regarding Fire Prevention Month.

Our Virtual Open House is this evening from 6pm-7:30pm. Teachers and staff have reached out to share their google meet times for parents to join. Many teachers have planned for two sessions, so that if you have more than one student in our school, you will be able to join both classrooms at two different times.

The UA team as well as the math and reading specialist are also available for a virtual meet. Their information is included in this update. We hope that you can join us tonight! Have a great week everyone!

  • Wed, Oct. 14th & Thu, October 15th - LRES Picture Days
Hybrid Families

We are asking for families following the Hybrid Model to complete the survey that is included here LRES Hybrid Student Questionnaire. We would like to begin implementing a consistent use of google classroom to post assignments and recorded lessons for students to access on remote days. Our hope is to begin this consistency next week. We were limiting the use of Google Classroom, up until now, until all families had access to technology. With that being said, we do not know an exact date for when we can expect devices here at LRES to pass out to families in need. We need to know which families do not have access to technology at home, so that we can plan to continue to send work home with families that are waiting for technology, while at the same time have assignments available on google classroom for those families that have the technology at home. This will allow us the opportunity to create assignments and lessons that are a continuation from the learning that took place the day before.

Technology Update

Reminder: For those families needing a district-provided device, we need to be sure the following has been done first:

  1. Returning student registration needs to be completed.
  2. The Chromebook permission slip needs to be signed and returned.
  3. If the student has a device that has not been returned they will not get another.

If you borrowed a device (Chromebook or Ipad) last spring and did not return the device, we are asking that you please return the device to school ASAP. We need to put new labels on the devices, check for any updates, add a case, and have you sign new forms for this school year. We will return the device to you as soon as this is completed.
Red Ribbon Week at LRES!

Red Ribbon Week is coming to LRES! Once again, LRES is teaming up with the Raymond Coalition for Youth and taking time to commemorate this important week. Recognizing that drug and alcohol prevention efforts MUST start early, LRES is committed to creating a week focused on healthy decisions, medication safety and goal setting! During the week we will be sharing a quick video via your student’s google classrooms as well as providing fun, optional activities for the entire family. Lastly, each child will receive a Red Ribbon Week t-shirt. The week of October 26 we will have Monday and Tuesdays students wear their Red Ribbon T-Shirts (to support solidarity in pledging to be drug free) – and on Wednesday and Thursday students are encouraged to wear their pajamas to school – (to support Following their dreams)!

A Important Message From Our Nurses Office

Hello Families! It’s that time of year again! Time for you and your family to receive a yearly flu vaccine! This year more than ever, getting a flu vaccine is one of the best things that you can do to keep you, your family, and community healthy and protected from influenza. Getting your annual flu vaccine protects the most vulnerable members of our community from the flu, which can be an extremely serious illness, particularly in the very old and the very young.

A flu vaccine can be obtained at your doctor’s office, local pharmacies, and even Urgent Care Centers such as Convenient MD and Clear Choice MD. Flu vaccines are fully covered with most insurance plans, and there are also places that provide flu vaccines free of charge to the uninsured. Check out the links below with additional information, and to help debunk some of the myths about flu vaccines.
