Wonderful Gifts from a Wonderful God
After her 70th birthday a decade ago, Sister Karen Buco made a list of the many
blessings and graces God has showered on her. She wrote this poem in gratitude.

The gift of life within and around me, in the beauty of nature on land and sea.
The hills, mountains, rocks, rolling waters, green plants, beautiful flowers, every tree.

The gift of faith that enlightens my soul and touches my heart,
leads me to God’s presence where I long to remain never to part.

The treasured love of my family, relatives and friends, far and near.
Their kindness, concern, support, generosity that I hold ever so dear.

The gift of my vocation your loving and precious call,
to be a gospel witness of yours to one and all.

The gifts and talents uniquely designed just for me
so that I may become the person you destined me to be.

I am so very thankful for the many gifts and blessings sent from above
from a wonderful God who gave them to me with all his love.
