Gearing Up For Finals Week

You have officially reached the last week in the semester!

This semester included both in person and virtual classes as well as interactions. It challenged you academically and you rose to the challenge. As you enter the final exam period be sure to take time to reflect on this achievement. Well done!

Below, we've curated a list of strategies to help you finish Fall 2021 successfully.

Be well. We're so proud of you.
Prep Your Final Exam To Do List
  • Begin Early - Avoid the rush and stress of studying so close to your exam period.

  • Create a Finals Game Plan - Identify when you will study certain subjects to use your time efficiently.

  • Change up Your Study Space - Try to move around your space a little whether it is a different location or room to help refresh your mindset.

  • Categorize Your Studying - Prioritize harder lessons you previously struggled with and organize how you will review different subjects (i.e. creating an outline, practice questions).

  • Take Advantage of the Review Sessions - Your teacher may be offering a time to study as a class, don't miss that opportunity!

  • Attend Group Study Sessions - Everyone learns differently and by connecting with peers you can work through any material you find challenging.

  • Utilize Creative Aids for Memorization - Lots of techniques exist online you can try along with mobile study apps you can download for support.

  • Use Practice Tests - You may be provided a study guide or practice questions which you certainly should use or ask for if they haven't been provided yet.

  • Say Yes to Good Food and Exercise - The mind will be working hard in the coming days to prepare so be sure to keep healthy habits as they will provide a better mindset and energy.

  • Give Yourself a Break - Your brain needs to refresh so whether that is planned short breaks or a treat after you complete a task.
Remember Your Resources
Check In With Your Instructors
You likely have connected with your faculty during the semester, whether it was for study support, to check in on your current grade, or even to ask about research opportunities as you look to the future. Now is the time to capitalize on that connection you fostered!

At this stage, the best way to reach out to your faculty will be through email before your final projects and exams.

Request a time to virtually connect or outline your questions clearly in your communication to get their help. Be strategic and respectful: remember that this is their busiest time of the semester too!
