Snow and Ice Maintenance
Ugh, winter is here.

We kindly remind residents to be familiar with the snow and ice removal policy and snow removal routes to ensure that clearing is a smooth process all season long!

This includes keeping the streets clear of vehicles during plowing and keeping sidewalks clear of ice and snow within 48 hours of snowfall.

Snow Removal and Parked Vehicles
For the safety of staff and residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, our Public Works team will no longer be providing courtesy knocks to give residents reminders to move vehicles for snow removal.

Once your street is signed as No Parking, you will have 24 hours to remove vehicles or they will be towed. There will also be Peace Officers dispatched to clear the streets shortly before snow removal equipment arrives.

Fire Hazard: Don’t put batteries in the garbage
Batteries pose a very serious fire risk when disposed of improperly. When batteries end up in the garbage or recycling they often get punctured or crushed, which can damage the separation between the cathode and anode, causing them to catch fire or explode.

In addition to the fire danger, batteries can also contain toxic chemicals, including lithium, cadmium, sulfuric acid and lead.

For these reasons, please don’t put batteries in the garbage or mix them in with your recycling.
Batteries need to be disposed of as e-waste or hazardous waste so they can be carefully handled to prevent these fires.
Solid Waste & Recycling Collection

Remember to leave at least 1 m (3 ft) around your carts so you can comfortably walk between and around them.
Know What's Below!
Whether you are landscaping, building a new fence or deck, or simply planting a garden, disturbing the ground on your property can cause damage to a buried utility. Some utilities are buried mere centimeters below the surface.

Use our new Utility Locates Request Form to have any buried utilities identified and marked prior to an excavation.
