Together We Achieve the Extraordinary!

Here we are already in the second half of Week #5! I hope that this week is going well so far for both you and your family.

Learning Pages
Parents and students, this week marks the mid-point of the 4th nine-week marking period and we anticipate that all students are submitting their weekly assignments to their teachers via emails or Canvas. As a gentle reminder, the main page of our school website has listed the specific Learning Packet pages for students and parents to take screen shots of to be emailed to teachers every Friday. In addition, all Canvas Course work is expected to be submitted.

Laptop Computers
Many of our 4th and 5th grade students received a laptop device over the course of the last few weeks. If you did not receive a laptop, please come to the school Monday- Wednesday- Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 1:20 p.m.

4th Nine Weeks Progress Reports
Progress Reports distribution will be next Wednesday, May 6th. Please review with your student as soon as possible.

Teacher Appreciation Week 2020
Teacher Appreciation Week runs Monday, May 4th through Friday, May 8th. This year we are running a "Virtual Student Participation." Given the current Covid-19 health situation, this year I kindly ask a favor. We are asking our students and parents to express their gratitude toward their teacher(s) online. This acknowledgement means more than you might realize, so thank you in advance for any messages you can share!

Below is a flyer illustrating a few of the many ways students could express their appreciation towards our teachers that continue to do their very best with the tools they have during this period of distance learning. Here are our teachers' email addresses for next week.

Enjoy the rest of your week and once again, thank you so much for your continued support and involvement as we get ready to enter the last month of the school year!

Tiger Health and Emotional Well Being

Our Tangelo Park Family is concerned about each other and last week were engaged in a faculty and staff Padlet activity expressing their concerns and support. Here are some of the responses Principal Black received last week:

Tiger Vital Signs!
Students using iReady

# of students using vs. # of students enrolled over the past 2 weeks for both reading (blue) & math (red). . .

Making sense of the charts: The charts compare the last two school weeks of student activity using iReady for both math and reading. For the week starting April 20 (last week) our kindergarten, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Tigers improved in iReady math! However, only two grades, 4th and 5th, showed progress in reading.

Distance Learning examples --- Artwork with Ms. Green!

We wanted our community to see examples of the students' work from home covering two (2) separate art projects.

One project was an Earth Day lesson. Our Tigers using cardboard toilet rolls, bottle caps, plastic bottles and other recycled materials for this one. From these, they created a racing car, a plastic bottle flower, a plastic cap necklace, a squid, and an octopus! The characters were 100% designed by the students.

The other project was a drawing lesson and students used drawing prompts to complete the assignment. Our Tigers chose from a list to draw and then they evaluated the artwork answering some questions about the drawing/painting they saw.

This Week's Motivational Moment!

USE YOUR POTENTIAL

Having potential
works exactly the opposite to the way
a bank savings account does.
In a savings account, as time goes by,
your money compounds interest.
The longer you leave it untouched,
the more it increases.

When it comes to potential,
the longer you leave it untouched,
the more it decreases.
Unused potential wastes away.
If you want your potential to increase,
you have to tap into it.
