THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
Sunday, November 8 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream
Now that Election Day 2020 is behind us, where do we go from here? No matter what has happened, our work for justice and inclusion continues – how do we stay focused and clear about what most matters, in these turbulent times? Click here to watch Rev. Florence's video invitation to the service.

As a way to check in with ourselves, we are asking you to participate in a quick survey. You can do it from your computer or cell phone.

Question: How are you feeling about the election? Share three words before Saturday at noon and we will make a word cloud for our service on Sunday.

UPCOMING SUNDAY SERVICES
REV. SALLY FRITSCHE
Sunday, November 15 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream

When it comes to sex, many religions seek to suppress knowledge and understanding of our bodies, identities, and health. Thankfully, Unitarian Universalism is different! Our commitments to comprehensive sex education, LGBTQ representation, and reproductive justice, are longstanding and deeply rooted in our UU values. Join us for an affirmation and celebration of those values, as well as a historical framing for the ongoing effort to protect these basic freedoms and rights today.

UUCUC'S "BUDDY SYSTEM"
Staying connected while
UUCUC facilities are closed

During this time of social distancing, staying in touch and checking in with each other is going to be very important. We hope you will consider being part of our "Buddy System" so we can care for one another.

You can sign up here: https://uucuc.breezechms.com/form/2184f1. Buddies will check in with each other regularly by phone to provide connection, companionship, and connections to help if needed. This is a great way to help each other.
JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, November 1.

From David Gross: Joy that while there was a pothole in the medical path, all is better today and the cataract has been removed from my right eye.

From Ellen Jacobsen: Joy for a sunny day. Sorrow for the feeling of concern and potential doom this week brings. Trying to hang onto fortitude and bravery and hope.

From Elizabeth Simpson: Joy to have known Peter Taylor, a dear collaborator,
and Nick Rudd, a stellar musician. Sorrow to no longer be able to hang out with them.

From Eileen Borgia: In honor of my sister’s husband Tony Millon, who lost his life following a fall last night. Tony and Kathy endured 6 years with this difficult illness.

From Kathy Vance: Seven years ago today, my husband, Tim Vance, died. Today, and everyday, I celebrate life and loving in memory of Tim. May we all celebrate our precious lives in memory of those who can’t.

From Andrea Herzog and family: Today we take a step back from our political activism long enough to celebrate our son, Daniel on his 15th birthday. Seeing young people like Daniel (and his siblings) who are rooted in kindness and justice gives us hope for the future. Daniel, we hope to give you a huge blue wave for your birthday and for your future.

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service each Sunday. They will be read aloud.
GIVING AND GRATITUDE
UUCUC Social Action Offering. Each month a selected organization is chosen to receive offerings from our congregation. You may donate to the social action offering for the month in one of the following ways:

During the month of November, our monthly social action offering will support the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee. UUSC is a 4-star nonprofit organization that strives to center the voices of people most affected by injustice.

They create relationships with frontline grassroots movements across the world that support marginalized communities. This work is especially important during this global pandemic. UUSC is providing flexible support to their grantee partners around the world and encouraging their partners to pivot as needed in response to the pandemic. Now and following the pandemic, UUSC will support self-determination and defend the rights of people displaced due to climate, conflict, oppression, or economic hardships. Read more.
RECENT SHARED OFFERINGS

During the month of October 2020, Cunningham Township Angel Donor Fund was selected to be the shared offering. The UUCUC congregation contributed a total of $1,200 that month!

This Angel Fund was launched in 2018 by Cunningham Township to provide life-saving support for township program participants who have one-time miscellaneous needs that fall outside existing programs. All donated funds go directly to secure food, clothing, house, power and transportation.
