A Knight's Tale | March Newsletter
Dear North Side Community School Friends,

We were thrilled to share the news that we are welcoming Dr. Douglas Thaman as the next Executive Director here at North Side when I retire in June. Our team is looking forward to the ways that he is planning to further the mission of North Side.

During the month of February, our students enjoyed activities that explored and celebrated Black History Month, including choir, music and dance performances that they shared with family and friends.

Last weekend, our Middle School boys basketball team participated in the St. Louis Charter School League Basketball Championship Tournament and the Elementary School boys and girls teams participated in the South City/County YMCA Playoffs. We hosted a school-wide pep-rally to cheer them on!

While we have resumed in-person school wide programs, we are also looking forward to hosting our gala in-person this year and celebrating North Side students, families and teachers. Deadline to register is April 13th, please join us!

Our Young Friends Board is hosting a social event on Thursday, April 7th at 6pm at West Port Social. This is a great opportunity to learn more about North Side and get involved. Myself and Doug Thaman will be in attendance, we hope to see you there.

Sincerely,
John Grote
Executive Director
Black History Month at North Side
Although Black History is celebrated and incorporated in programming throughout the year here at North Side, our students engaged in many learning activities focused on Black History Month throughout February. Our students held performances for friends and family to attend.

Our preschoolers and kindergarteners performed virtually, and you can view their entire performance above! Our first through eighth grader students performed songs and dances for family and friends in person. Our students also worked hard on some incredible art projects that are displayed throughout the school.
Basketball Tournament
Our Elementary and Middle School basketball teams had a great season!

Our Middle School boys were co-conference champs and 2nd in the conference tournament, the Elementary boys team won first place and Elementary girls team placed fourth. Both campuses held school-wide pep rally's to cheer our students on. It has great to see the students supporting one another and developing team spirit.
