REAL PROPERTY VALUATION NEWS
The General Assembly has been quietly working on ways to bring relief to owners of real property hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic. The House Ways & Means Committee recently added ideas for relief to Senate Bill 57.

ALL ABOARD: OHIO'S TRANSPORTATION BUDGET MOVES TO THE GOVERNOR FOR HIS SIGNATURE
After rounds of negotiations early last week between the Ohio House and the Ohio Senate, Ohio's transportation budget is now on its way to Gov. DeWine for his signature. The new budget will take effect at the start of the fiscal year, July 1.

OHIO CHAMBER SUPPORTS BILL THAT PROMOTES CONSUMER ENERGY CHOICE
Early last week, the Ohio Chamber testified in support of House Bill 201, which would pre-empt local governments from banning the use of natural gas and protects customers' ability to choose what mix of energy sources works best for their needs.

OHIO CHAMBER SUPPORTS BROWNFIELD REVITALIZATION BILL
Last week, the Ohio Chamber submitted proponent testimony on Senate Bill 84, which directs excess liquor profits from JobsOhio to the Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund (CORF) to assist in brownfield remediation.

TAX CONFORMITY BILL PASSES THE HOUSE
Last month the Senate passed Senate Bill 18 to conform the Ohio tax code with the federal tax code. This conformity will date back to March of 2020 and will include any changes to the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) from last March until the date of enactment.

SOLAR AND WIND REFERENDUM BILLS RECEIVE OPPONENT TESTIMONIES
The Ohio Chamber of Commerce testified in front of the Senate Energy and Public Utilities Committee and the House Public Utilities Committee as an opponent to Senate Bill 52 and House Bill 118. There were hundreds of written opponent testimonies and dozens of in-person witnesses who testified against these companion bills.

NUCLEAR SUBSIDY REPEAL BILL AWAITS GOVERNOR'S SIGNATURE
On Tuesday, March 23, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce submitted testimony in support of House Bill 128. HB 128 is one of multiple HB 6 repeal bills that have been introduced this General Assembly, but it is the first bill to clear both chambers with the Senate’s favorable vote.
