Spring 2022 Courses on Latin America

In Spring 2022, a wide variety of courses related to Latin America will be offered at OSU.

Select language courses include:

FLAS Information Sessions

The remaining information sessions for the Summer 2022 and Academic Year 2022-2023 FLAS competitions will be held on the following dates:

Wednesday, December 1, 2021, 4-5 p.m.
Friday, December 3, 2021, 12-1 p.m.

Each session includes a presentation on the fellowship and application process and an opportunity to ask questions. Learn more and register for a session here.

Spring 2022 BookBox

Next spring, CLAS is offering another iteration of its BookBox series. BookBox is a virtual reading group that prepares and equips K-12 teachers to integrate Latin American-centered books into their classrooms. Our Spring 2022 BookBoxes will be:

BB1: Exploring Latin America in Picture Books and Poetry
BB2: Introduction to Portuguese in children’s literature
BB3: Examining Latin America through nature and the environment

Participating teachers can earn CEUS for their participation, as well as a possible $100 for a completed lesson plan.

Registration will open Fri., Dec. 10 and remain open until Fri., Dec. 24 or until all slots are filled. Learn more and register for one of the BookBoxes here.

New Resource on Corongo Quechua

Dr. Daniel Hintz has recently published his Guía del Quechua de Corongo (Llaqwash), available here. This guide aims to preserve and revitalize Llaqwash, a variety of Quechua spoken in Central Peru which is in danger of extinction.
