The Communications Director will work in collaboration with the bishops of the Southwest California Synod and the Pacifica Synod to envision, create, and manage a comprehensive communications program for both synods. This program will include internal and external communications as well as public relations with local and national media outlets. The Communications Director is a full-time position split equally between the two synods and will report directly to the synod bishops.
Responsibilities include website creation and maintenance; social media content creation; direct communications with congregations and rostered leaders; public relations; crisis communications strategy and implementation; promotion of conferences, workshops and assemblies held by the synods; online and in-person registrations for events within each synod; coordinating communications between the ELCA national church and synods; and branding and marketing analysis. The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $70,000, depending on experience and education. In addition, health care insurance and an employer contribution to a retirement account will be included. The position starts with two weeks paid vacation per year, increasing to three weeks after five years of employment.
