Unity Greeters Newsletter Update 

Unity Greeters provide a caring and supportive environment for members and visitors.  With warmth and sincerity, we offer everyone who enters our doors an opportunity to experience Unity principles in action.  We are blessed to have 13 greeters who pair up and choose one Sunday/month to greet.  We have greeters who serve as substitutes which makes the process move smoothly.  

Greeters have a wide variety of duties including arriving 30 minutes before the service, greeting the guest speaker, checking with the music director to see which song book to use, welcoming and giving visitors information packets and name tags, showing visitors the layout of the building, and introducing them to the children's education teacher/child care provider.  Greeters count the number of participants in the service, darken the room during meditation and take the offering.  The greeters also alert the teacher and children to return to the sanctuary at the end of the offertory.  We try to connect with visitors at the end of the service to answer any questions and to encourage them to fill out a communication form and to join us for fellowship after the service.

While we have many duties, it is truly a blessing to serve on the greeter team.  Many people who ultimately join Unity, tell us that the personal approach they had from the greeter on their first day, made them feel welcomed, accepted and gave them the feeling that Unity could be their church home!


Transition Article

We continue to journey through our transition period together at Unity Christ Center in two major ways. We are in the initial stages of a Ministerial search and we are in the midst of a transition due to the Coronavirus.
 
I am pleased with the connections we, our Unity community, have been maintaining during this period of not being able to physically meet at our building; the Zoom Sunday Services are well attended, the Prosperity Class continued via Zoom and is now completed, the Course of Love group has restarted using Zoom, a Zoom book club started in late April, the Grounds Team has started to beautify our grounds, the Prayer Partners are continuing to provide prayer support and Timothy has continued to come to work at Unity coordinating all of the Zoom meetings and facilitating our Sunday Services. I feel very blessed and hope you do also. I would like to thank all of our members who have taken the initiative to reach out and connect to those who we are not 'seeing' at our Zoom meetings.
 
The Board of Trustees has finalized a Revision of our Bylaws. In 2019 an ad hoc team reviewed our 2008 Bylaws and using a template recommended by Unity Worldwide Ministries (UWM) revised our Bylaws. In 2020 a few more revisions were made based on a new template from UWM and suggestions from Rev. Greg Cole. Our next step is for the Board to make recommendations to the membership for the Bylaw changes. Members will then vote on the revised Bylaws. 
 
In the very near future, we will be developing strategies and a framework to begin the actual ministerial recruitment process. As part of our last ministerial search we addressed many of Unity Christ Center's needs (spirituality needs, community needs, facility needs, financial status etc.). Our goal now will be focusing on the importance of securing a well-balanced collaboration with a Minster and Unity Christ Center to embrace these needs in a mutually satisfying manner.

In the midst of all that is taking place in our lives, we affirm   God is , and we know peace within.

We serve our community by volunteering our time and contributions to the Community Table.
