Students Donate Items to Homeless Period Project

Chiropractic Student Government recently led a drive to support the local Homeless Period Project (HPP), collecting feminine hygiene products to be used for "period packs" and distributed throughout the Spartanburg area.

"I had the pleasure of meeting Taylor Dempsey and Alyssa Keeling from the Sherman College of Chiropractic Student Government," said Kerry Summey Easler of HPP. "What you can't see in these pictures are the 2,600+ pads and liners they collected for The Homeless Period Project in Spartanburg. Thank you, ladies, for helping us reach those in need."

The college began work with HPP in 2018 and serves as one of its Spartanburg drop-off locations. The organization provides feminine hygiene products to homeless women, women in poverty, and school-aged girls who may not have access to these products. It also advocates for equal and tax-free access to these vital products with help from volunteers and donors.

Dr. Beth Ehlich, a 1990 Sherman College graduate and faculty member, was recently re-elected for a second term as chair of the South Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Sherman Students Awarded Bucks for Boards Scholarship

Three Sherman College students, Mike Brademann, Crystal Rosa Hoyos, and Kristin Marlowe, were among 50 chiropractic students in the country awarded the Bucks for Boards scholarship from the National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company (NCMIC). NCMIC, in conjunction with the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE), launched the scholarship program in an effort to reach out to students and support them during their taking of board exams.

The scholarship is awarded to 50 students four times during the year for an annual total of 200 scholarships totaling $100,000 in the amount of $500 each. NCMIC was formed in 1946 by a group of chiropractors with the purpose of offering malpractice insurance to DCs when no one else would. Read more about Bucks for Boards.
Lyceum 2021: Time to Shine Moved to October

Sherman College has been carefully evaluating plans for Lyceum 2021 over the past few weeks in accordance with current events and local, state, and federal recommendations regarding COVID-19. The college has opted to postpone Lyceum 2021 until October 28-30, 2021, in hopes that it can host its annual homecoming and continuing education event on campus and in person.

As the year progresses, we will continue to evaluate the safety and potential liability of hosting this event, and we will keep you informed with as much advance notice as possible. No matter what happens, you can count on Lyceum 2021 taking place on October 28-30, either in-person or virtually.

The goal is to host this event in person so we can see our alumni and supporters, connect with new friends, and celebrate our wonderful profession together, just the way B.J. intended at the first Lyceum so many years ago. Please watch our website for the latest program information and updates. One way or another, we'll see you in October! Read the full announcement.
Perspective and Chiropractic

Sherman College Instructor of Clinical Sciences Rosemary DePasque, B.S., D.C., '90, is always looking for fun ways to bring her class material to life. Recently she had her students complete self-portraits on top of their heads during a class drill on perspective.

"They can see how close or how completely different it looks, and they get a great laugh," she said of the activity. "The point is that we may have one perspective of how we think practice life will look when we are in undergraduate, then another in chiropractic college, and then another once we graduate, and so on. The students really seem to grasp that it is okay to change their ideas about how their future practice life will evolve over time."
