PES Principal Message
February 4, 2021
Puster Families,

Today is the 100th Day of School! The Puster Senior Care Facility has been in full operation today both online and in person. Our gramps and grannies are the liveliest bunch of old people I’ve ever cared for! Along with the addition of senior citizens, we’ve had a lot of unique learning experiences to help us all celebrate 100 amazing days of learning!

Tomorrow, we invite all staff and students to “Go Red!” with the district as we bring awareness to heart health. Be sure to take a look below for a chance for your child to participate in the Kids’ Heart Challenge.

Have a great weekend! GO CHIEFS!

Puster Proud,
Holly

At Puster, we know EVERY staff member goes above and beyond, though we may not always hear about it. Who are our unsung heroes? Has a Puster teacher or staff member gone above and beyond for your child/family? We want to hear about it! Parents, community members, staff members and students are welcome to share by clicking the link above.

This week we'd like to recognize the following staff members:
Each week Ms. Tracy provides individualized responses to every single lesson my daughter submits via Seesaw. She even noticed balloons in the background of one video response and made sure to wish my daughter a happy birthday. This was so unexpected & had a profound impact on my daughter! She has not had the opportunity to have in-person class with Ms. Tracy, but the amount of effort the entire team puts into each lesson and very detailed responses do not go unnoticed! We are so very grateful!

Learning with Your Librarian
Hello Parents!

I hope that all of you had not only a good break but a restful one. As the weather turns colder in the coming weeks, I wanted to remind you of a great reading service that we provide here in Lovejoy. All of our students, Pre-K through 12th grade have access to our online library through Sora and OverDrive. In our online library, we have a variety of amazing reads for any student. If you would like to check out what we have available there is more information on our library website. You can also reach out to me with whatever questions you may have or if you would like assistance or recommendations!

Happy Reading,

Did you know Puster earned over $900 last year with Box Top program? Yes, those little squares add up to a significant amount for our school. This year the program has gone digital! Let’s ditch the scissors ✂ and pick up our phones to earn cash for our school. Just download the new & improved mobile app, register, select Puster Elementary, and then scan an eligible receipt containing Box Tops product. The app will automatically add Box Tops to our school’s earnings online.

Growing Graduates
A Spotlight on the Pillars of the Lovejoy Graduate Profile
Fair and Respectful of Others
The Lovejoy graduate has had the opportunity to interact with students, teachers, administrators and parents in a variety of settings. He or she has chosen to act in accordance with the principle - treat others as he or she would want to be treated. These experiences have led the student to go outside himself or herself to find happiness and joy in the love, friendship, and companionship of others.
What does this look like at School?
  • Including others at recess
  • Cooperating in group work
  • Helping one another
  • Being open to hearing new ideas
  • Standing up for others when they're being treated unfairly
  • Celebrate each others' differences
Ideas for your Family:
  • Share with your siblings
  • Help with household chores
  • Limit distractions when others are working in the house
  • Be on time
  • Be kind to servant workers (wait staff, grocery clerks, delivery people, etc.)

School Dismissal Manager Fast Facts
Here are a few Fast Facts that you will need to know for getting started:
1.  Please use this website to log in to SDM at www.schooldismissalmanager.com. The initial login is best completed from a computer as opposed to your phone.
2.   The Parent Login area is found at the top right of the SDM homepage.
3.   When you log in for the first time, you will be required to change your password immediately.
4.   Please refer to the Parent Guide for Creating Exceptions for details on how to use the system.
5.   As you begin to use School Dismissal Manager, if you have questions, please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) link found in the Parent login area at the top of the SDM homepage. Here, you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions. If your question remains unanswered after checking here, please contact the school office and we will be happy to assist you further.
6.   When you start to receive the email notifications of changes or cancellations that are made for your child, please keep in mind that hitting Reply or Reply All on those emails does not reply to the school. If you need to respond to a notification (i.e., to inform the school it is incorrect, provide additional details, etc.) please call the school directly and talk with someone in the office.
7.   Each school day, School Dismissal Manager will send a comprehensive dismissal report to the school immediately following the cut-off time, allowing administrators and staff to facilitate a smooth dismissal.

Thank you for using this tool to help us keep the dismissal process safe and orderly for all our students.
