RACING Opportunities as of 2/11
|
Due to your resilience and compliance to Health Protocols we continue to build race opportunities. We could not be pulling this off without amazing venue support and your compliance to Health Protocols. A big piece of hosting successful events in a pandemic is planning for who will be at the event. Thank you to everyone - athletes, coaches and volunteers for filling out all the required health screens prior to these events and races.
This weekend NENSA has their first U16 & Eastern High School Championship event in Massachusetts. This is the first of the state by state U16 & EHS Champs this season, with Maine, NH and VT to follow.
The Eastern Mass Nordic (EMN/CSU juniors) have pulled together a virtual Race for Snow - allowing anyone from any state to compete February 7th-20th ~ and for a GREAT cause ~ climate change!
Eastern Cup Racing:
The remainder of the schedule is currently moving forward as planned.
Next weekend, we have our next round of Eastern Cup and VT Cup racing, with Eastern Cup races in Dublin NH on 2/20 and Holderness NH on 2/21, as well as a VT Cup in Craftsbury on 2/20. We ask for your continued patience and understanding as we work to provide the highest quality races.
There have been questions about “Bibs & Chips” — these will continue to be sent to larger clubs, or picked up at venues in a sealed bag at the first event an athlete is able to attend. Please note there are no spectators at any of these events and coaches, volunteers and officials all must complete registrations, pre and day-of health screens. Registration pages will open much closer to the events than normal and all will close at 5pm on the Wednesday before the event.
Popular Racing:
Current virtual events include the winter long Virtual Craftsbury Marathon which is open to all. The student led Race for Snow also provides a race experience for all and has a wonderful environmental mission, and it runs February 7th-20th.
TODAY is the last day to register for the John Roderick Marathon in Rumford ME this Saturday 2/13. It is one of the few opportunities for an in-person long distance race this season. The Chisholm crew always puts on a great event. There is a 25km, 15km and 5km option.
Enjoy the Snow – Stay Safe. We hope to see you out there!

in 4 different states at 5 different venues
|
NENSA's annual Women’s XC Ski Day is coming up on Sunday February 21st 2021. Our priority is keeping everyone as safe and healthy as possible, so we are having 5 mini Women's Days in four different states!
We still have space available for one more person in our Vermont clinic in Woodstock. Go to SkiReg.com if you want to grab that last open VT spot (you must currently live in VT to attend).
We also want to let registrants know that, thanks to UnTapped, we will be offering pre-packaged Maple Chai Waffle snacks, and thanks to Cabot, we will be offering pre-packaged cheddar cheese snacks at Women’s Day this year! And don’t forget about the fuzzy logo'd LL Bean flannel shirt also included in registration for free...! SKIDA has also made our awesome Women's Day hats, available for purchase on SkiReg. And, if that was not enough goodies, our sponsor ALLAGASH Brewing sent us some gorgeous stainless pint glasses, and SIDAS and TOKO have sent us some fantastic raffle prizes for lucky participants from each state! Yeah to SWAG and thank you to our sponsors!!!!

NENSA COVID-19 Considerations ~
Contingency Planning
for our Events and Races
this coming season
|
The Covid-19 pandemic poses significant challenges to NENSA’s 2020-21 winter event schedule. We are committed to hosting races and will make every effort to safely put on events in whatever form they might take. Our first objective is to ensure the health of our community in New England. Our second objective is to host our major events: Eastern Cups, Popular Races, U16 and Eastern High School Championships, the Bill Koch Festival, and Women’s Day as scheduled. To further foster excitement and an inclusive and community-centric atmosphere around skiing, NENSA will also be organizing some new fun season long challenges and goal-oriented activities. Skiers are encouraged to limit their travel and attend events that are within their region and state.
