Marshall Messenger
Week of May 11-15, 2020
A Note from the Principal's Office
Dear MES Families,

On behalf of all the teachers and staff at Marshall Elementary, we thank our students and families for your kind words, videos, and letters throughout Teacher Appreciation Week. Ms. Fields and I are extremely proud of our MES team, especially during this time of remote learning. We all strive to meet the needs of our students and families each and every day.

As we continue to move forward with remote learning, our school team is aware that several students and families have questions about getting their items from desks along with returning textbooks and library books. Please know that the District is in the process of working through a plan that will be communicated at a later date. Once this is confirmed, our families will be notified.

Please be sure to find balance in your days throughout the week. We recognize that every family has different schedules and unique situations. Your family’s well-being comes first, and our team is willing to be flexible with student expectations and learning opportunities. Should you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher(s). We will get through this together.

Sincerely,
Dr. Thornton

District Updates
Updated Meal Pickup Information
New sign-up deadlines listed below

The District continues to be approved to provide breakfast and lunch for all students in need. Meals can be picked up Mondays and Wednesdays through June 10. Since NA began providing meals, participation has grown and we would like to be able to ensure we have enough food supplies on hand to fill orders.  Due to limited food supplies, it is important for us to know these numbers in advance to ensure we can provide meals for everyone. Starting Monday, May 4, we will now have a sign-up form for each pickup day each week.
  • Sign up by Monday at 12:00 p.m. to pick up meals on the following Wednesday.
  • Sign up by Thursday at 12:00 p.m. to pick up meals on the following Monday.

Meals will be available for pickup at the front entrance of North Allegheny Senior High School (NASH) each Monday and Wednesday between 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

To expedite the pickup process, please display a piece of paper with the pickup person’s last name and the number of meals they are picking up in the vehicle window.
Pause DaysNorth Allegheny School District students will participate in “Pause Days” on the dates below. “Pause Days” are intended to give students opportunities to catch up on assigned work, and no new instruction or assignments will be assigned for the specific grade levels. Teachers will be participating in activities outside of their normal instructional duties, and may not be available via email on these days. Secondary teachers will not be holding “office hours” on these days.

Pause Days for Elementary Buildings: Tuesdays in May (5/12, 5/19, and 5/26)
Pause Days for Middle and High School Buildings: Wednesdays in May (5/13, 5/20, and 5/27)

On each “Pause Day”, students are still required to check-in for daily attendance by logging into TigerID and clicking on the Remote Learning Check-In App. Click here for directions: https://nasd.school/StudentRemoteCheckIn.

If your child/children will NOT be attending MES for the 2020-2021 school year, please contact the MES office before the last day of school.
