The Impact of the AmeriCorps Farm to School Program on Wisconsin

During the 2018-2019 program year, the AmeriCorps members with Wisconsin DPI Farm to School provided nutrition education to over 5,000 students from nearly 90 schools across the state. In addition to their work inside the classroom, the AmeriCorps members supported numerous school garden projects, coordinated with school food service directors to expand procurement of locally grown foods for school meal programs, and worked with over 100 farmers to bring local foods into schools for student tastings and meal programs.

These impacts on Wisconsin students and communities, including photographs and data from the over 30 school districts that participated last year, were recently released in the 2018-2019 AmeriCorps Farm to School Program Impact Report. To see more information on the impacts of AmeriCorps Farm to School members here in Wisconsin, you can visit their program website and directly access the 2018-2019 AmeriCorps Farm to School Program Impact Report.

AmeriCorps Members Participating in Transform Your Leadership Training Series

This October, AmeriCorps members in Wisconsin started an educational series on transformational leadership consisting of six podcast episodes and three workshops hosted in different parts of the state. The Transform Your Leadership series was kicked off by Dr. Alex Gee during his keynote presentation at the 2019 Opening Ceremony at the Milwaukee County Zoo. AmeriCorps members and program staff from throughout the state attended the first workshop,  either in-person or remotely,  to reflect on the first three podcasts in Madison on December 6. The second workshop is scheduled to take place in Milwaukee on January 31.
Welcome to Tracey Brent,

Thank you Maggie O'Sullivan, our Marketing Specialist Intern

Serve Wisconsin would like to thank Maggie O'Sullivan for her work as our Marketing Specialist Intern this year. Maggie was invaluable in the planning efforts for our Opening Ceremony and the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of AmeriCorps this October, particularly through her work on sorting and organizing twenty-five years of photographs, digital content, and statistics and purchasing the gear and equipment for AmeriCorps members. Additionally, she helped develop and create content for multiple social media campaigns this year, including those for the Governor's Service Awards, the "25 Years of AmeriCorps" countdown to the anniversary celebration, and why members and alumni are "Thankful for AmeriCorps."

Maggie will be studying abroad this spring in Barcelona, Spain, and then returning home to the Chicago area this summer for another marketing internship. Thank you Maggie for all of your help this year!
