Hello NMA Derm Members!

The NMA Derm research committee is excited to share our first formal research project and are asking for your participation. NMA Derm has partnered with the National Eczema Association (NEA) on a project that will evaluate eczema decision making from the perspective of caregivers who have minors or themselves receiving care for eczema from their provider.

Please consider helping with this project by distributing this questionnaire to your patients. It would be awesome if you could ask them to complete and submit it at your office; however emailing the link is another option. Note the attached link. NMA Derm has a goal of submitting 100 completed surveys by the February 23rd deadline.

Link to the survey to share with your patients/caregivers: https://go.nationaleczema.org/research-sdm-survey-nma

We will keep you updated on our numbers.

Thank you in advanced for your support!

The National Eczema Association (NEA) is committed to understanding all aspects of the experience of living with eczema, both for affected individuals and their families.
The National Eczema Association has partnered with NMA Derm to ensure that the voices of black patients suffering from atopic dermatitis are heard. As part of NEA’s commitment to understanding all aspects of the experience of living with eczema, both for affected individuals and their families, we are calling on the eczema community to take NEA's Shared Decision Making Survey to help NEA get a better understanding of how they work with their healthcare provider(s).

NEA's anonymized survey will help us better understand this movement in which patients and caregivers are more actively engaged in care and treatment. A fuller understanding of shared decision making could be used to inform clinician resources and educational materials, patient and caregiver resources, and raise awareness of shared decision making — ultimately leading to better health outcomes and care satisfaction for eczema patients.

Ensure your patients' and their caregivers' voices are included! For your convenience:
  1. Use this prewritten email to send your atopic dermatitis patients
  2. Repost the social media communications from the NMA Derm Facebook and Instagram accounts.
  3. See examples of how the NEA posted about the survey on NEA's LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter.
After taking the survey, respondents will be eligible to be entered into a drawing for one of twenty $50 Amazon e-gift cards.

Deadline for your patient caregivers to complete the survey: February 23, 2021.
