Dear Families:

I enjoyed seeing so many families both yesterday and today for our Student Led Conferences. Whether you met in person or virtually I hope that you found this time valuable in deepening the school/family relationship. I also hope that our first ever Asynchronous Day of Learning was successful for your student.

As we enter into the season of Gratitude, I want to express my deep appreciation and thanks to all of you for your care, encouragement and support of our school team. I continue to be so proud of our students and our staff, who have endured and persisted through the challenges of the past 20 months. I also want to thank each of you for contributing to our Site Council as they were able to provide dinner and some time for teachers and staff to be in community with each other in between conferences---this was a fantastic treat!

Continue to let us know if we can do anything further to assist your student in reaching their full potential and brilliance.

Sincerely,

Jason Boll
Interim Principal

Upcoming Dates to Remember

  • NO School November 24 - 28 Fall Break
Reminders
We have recently observed students being dropped off and picked up along Texas Ave and running across the street to the front of the Middle School. Please refrain from the practice as it not safe for students or drivers.

We discourage the dropping off of restaurant food for student lunch.
America Recycles Day Competition
The Environmental Student Leadership team has entered SLP Middle School into the America Recycles Day competition and could win up to $2,000 for St. Louis Park Middle School – but we need your help!

The America Recycles Day competition is a national contest between schools to collect the most used clothing to be given back to the community. Five winners will receive cash prizes for collecting the most clothes – measured in pounds – between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30.

If St. Louis Park wins, the Environmental Student Leadership team has decided to put the cash prize towards starting a school garden!

The Environmental Student Leadership team is asking students and families to chip in. Anyone with gently used clothes to donate can bring them to the clothing recycling bins located in the back parking lot of St. Louis Park Middle School, next to the soccer fields.

In this season of gratitude leading up to the Fall Break, now is a fantastic time to send a thank you email to your child's teachers, front office, custodians and cooks. Ask your student who makes a difference in their day and send a quick email to thank them!

You can find staff email addresses at https://ms.slpschools.org/about/staff-directory

Site Council is also delivering Gratitude bags to staff prior to the break. Watch for a picture in a future OT News!

While Staff absolutely LOVES having our kids in the building for in-person learning, we've heard the year is more challenging than in our pre-COVID world. They sincerely appreciate all support from our parent community!

Our Student Support Team including our GLC's (Grade Level Coordinators) and Instructional Assistants is working to make the Reflection Room a place where students can get extra support. They have two key needs currently and appreciate any contributions you can offer:

1) Individually wrapped nut free snacks like cheez-its, pirate booty, fruit snacks, granola bars, nutri-grain bars, KIND bars, etc.

2) Reusable water bottles - a few they chose from Amazon follow and can be shipped directly to the school (2025 Texas Ave S, 55426)

The links above go through Amazon Smile. If you haven't already designated a charity, please consider making the St. Louis Park Middle School Site Council your charity of choice. Amazon will donate a portion of your spending to the school.

Items can be sent to the Middle School or dropped off at the front office any time.
Thanks for all you do to support Staff and Students!

Give to the Max Day
Consider Supporting the Park Public Schools & Community Foundation on Give to the Max Day

Thursday, November 18 is Give to the Max Day - the annual statewide event that sees thousands of individuals donate to nonprofits and schools. On this day of generosity, consider a gift to the Park Public Schools & Community Foundation (PPSCF).

It is the mission of PPSCF to make a positive impact in St. Louis Park by providing grants for projects in the St. Louis Park Public Schools and to nonprofits supporting youth programs outside of the classroom.

This money does not fund core functions of our public schools or community organizations, like payrolls or capital projects, but rather focuses on providing funding for innovative projects or emerging needs.

If you are interested in learning more about the Park Public Schools & Community Foundation you can visit the website at www.slppscf.org. If you are interested in making a gift to the Foundation on Give to the Max Day you can visit www.givemn.org/story/Slppscf.
