Over the years Gus has enjoyed building and maintaining the many friendships he has made through his time coming to the center. He has become quite close to many fellow members, even going out to breakfast once a month with a group of them before the pandemic started. Gus’ family knows he comes to the center every day and they are glad for it. And, Gus is too. He enjoys staying healthy, and over the years has used both the Original & Competition pools, as well as the Fitness Center, but most recently he has settled into a nice routine using the Fitness Center daily. He says, “I feel very safe here, everything is clean, people keep their masks on and stay socially distant, and clean the equipment after using it.” His time at the center is important to Gus, too, because if he misses a day he feels it and he doesn’t like the way it makes him feel. Gus says his time at the center reminds him of a time in his youth where he would see good friends regularly, and they would catch up on what was happening in each other’s lives, and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. He values the social connections he has at the WCC and looks forward to this part of his day, every day.
