Island House Dining FAQ's
As the New Horizons Plan comes to end in the next few weeks, you will see that our dining venues in the Island House have received not only a dramatic change in appearance, but will also receive a change to how the dining areas function and serve our members. Below are some frequently asked questions that we hope you will find helpful regarding how these dining areas are changing and how these changes will be adapted as we continue to manage through the COVID-19 pandemic.
When will Palmetto Room and Bohicket's Lounge open?
Island House restaurant dining venues are anticipated to open in mid to late October. A firm date should be established and communicated to the membership by October 1.
When can I make a reservation?
Once the opening date has been established and communicated we will immediately begin to take reservations. These can be made by calling (843) 768-2571, online through the member section of www.seabrookisland.com or through the soon-to-come Seabrook Island Club app.
How can I reserve the new fireplace dining room and how many will it seat?
Reservations for the fireplace dining room (which will be named later) can be made by calling the maitre'd stand at the restaurant reservations number when we begin taking reservations. Due to expected high demand, the room will not be available for online reservations initially. The seating capacity will be in the 8 to 12 range, but once the furniture is in place we will be able to see what is most comfortable and functional in this space.
Since Palmetto is now the primary casual dining venue, has the dress code changed?
Yes. The dress code for the Palmetto Room will be the same as the dress code for Bohicket's Lounge. The revised dress codes for Bohicket's Lounge, Palmetto Room and the Deveaux Room are below.
Bohicket's Lounge and Palmetto Room- Sports Casual: golf and tennis attire that contribute to an overall neat appearance are appropriate. Jeans are permitted. Beachwear, including bathing suits, cover-ups, short shorts and cut-offs are not permitted. Hats are not to be worn by gentlemen. Children should be dressed consistent with the above.
Deveaux Room- Club Casual: For gentlemen, dress slacks and appropriate top contributing to an overall neat appearance (collared shirt, sweater, cardigan, etc.) are required; jackets are appropriate, but not required. Jeans, shorts and t-shirts are not permitted at any time for ladies or gentlemen. Hats (except for women's dress hats) should not be worn. Children should be dressed consistent with the above.
Is there a formal dining venue?
Due to indoor dining restrictions relating to COVID we will initially use the Deveaux Room as a casual dining extension of the Palmetto Room. Once restaurant capacity restrictions are "normalized" the Deveaux Room will host formal dining on select evenings.
Can the Deveaux Room be booked for a private event?
At first the Deveaux Room will not be available for private event bookings, as it will be an extension of the Palmetto Room for lunch and dinner service. The Deveaux Room will be a restaurant space with permanent dining furniture, so room set-up will much more limited, as compared to a true banquet room. In the future, private event bookings will be available when the room is not being used for member restaurant dining. All current bookings for the Deveaux Room will continue as planned.
Since there are restrictions and limitations to Deveaux, where will private events be held that were previously held in the old Deveaux Room?
These events will be relocated to the Carolina Room on the first floor.
Will Members' Night, Trivia Night and other theme nights return?
At first these special event nights will not be hosted, to allow our team to acclimate to their new surroundings and a new dining dynamic. Members' Nights and theme nights will most likely return in a few months. Trivia Nights may return as well, but they will be hosted in the Atlantic Room, but only after we are comfortable with large gatherings.
How are COVID-related precautions being taken in Island House dining? What are the capacity restrictions in the dining spaces?
We will adhere to the capacity restrictions as set by Governor McMaster; 50% fire code capacity and tables spaced six feet apart. This will be a challenge, but it is one faced by all dining operations. Reservations may be required in order to manage traffic, but more information will come soon.
Will there be service on the Golf Veranda?
Yes. We are finishing the development of a Seabrook Island Club app which will give our members the ability to make a dining reservation, tee time, court reservation, check their statement, pay their bill AND place an online beverage order while on the Golf Veranda. We anticipate the app being completed and ready for use in October.
When the Island House opens, will the Pelican's Nest close?
Yes. When the opening date of the Island House is determined, we will also communicate the closing date of the Pelican's Nest. Due to the transition, food service may be limited for a few days as we close the Nest and open the Island House.
For those still nervous about indoor dining, will take-out return?
After a couple weeks of our team "breaking in" the renovated dining space, we will offer a limited menu with designated pick-up times. More information will be communicated at a later time.
What is the plan for Thanksgiving?
We will be offering a Thanksgiving takeout menu, similar to the takeout Easter Brunch we offered in April. Items will be available for pick up the morning/afternoon of Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 26th. Menu and details will sent in the next couple weeks.
