Calgary Jewish Federation, ActionDignity, and Habitus Collective have planned an event to help build a Community-based Anti-racism Strategy for The City of Calgary on Tuesday, November 23 from 6:30 to 8:30pm. The strategy will address systemic racism and discrimination within The City and the wider community. Your participation in the event will support efforts to make Calgary an inclusive, anti-racist community and for The City to become an anti-racist organization. Register to participate. We need voices from our Jewish community to be heard.
You are invited to join Calgary Jewish Federation and The Jewish Federation of Edmonton for Oil-Vey, It's Chanukah! Cooking Class and Israeli Market Tour on Sunday, November 21 at 11:00am on Zoom. Back by popular demand, chef Shawna Goodman-Sone will be teaching an online cooking class on how to incorporate olive oil into your dishes. Tour guide Orit Levy will join her by providing an inside look at Jerusalem's Machane Yehuda Market. Register for this free event.
Kol hakavod to community leader and philanthropist, Gordon Hoffman, on receiving the 2021 Generosity of Spirit Lifetime Achievement Award from the Calgary and area chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. As noted in the Calgary Herald, "The award acknowledges Hoffman's decades of involvement as chairman, co-chairman, director, and sometimes founder of nearly 100 charitable and community organizations supporting a broad spectrum of people." Gordon, may you go from strength to strength and continue your important volunteering and generous philanthropic work. Mazel tov on your honour!
Your UJA gift provides something for everyone, no matter the stage or season of life. Through Shalom Baby and PJ Library® Calgary, young children and families are supported and connected to Jewish culture, values, and traditions from day one. As children grow, your UJA gift provides formative Jewish experiences such as camp and day school. In adulthood, you create strong and compassionate leaders through programs such as Hillel Calgary and JAC (Jewish Adult Calgary). Finally, you not only help seniors meet their basic needs, but also help them lead enriched and fulfilling lives through Paperny Family JCC's Golden Age programming and social services through JFSC. Give generously today to help improve and enhance the lives of community members of all ages.
Our community and our Jewish Federation have a history of responding quickly and generously whenever and wherever disaster strikes. We think of our colleagues and friends in British Columbia, as well as all of those impacted by the recent weather disaster there, and hope for their safety and recovery. If you would like to support disaster relief efforts there, Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver has initiated a fund - Donate here
