Greetings!

Welcome to Promise Helpers' June 2020 newsletter. This month's theme is about peace, peace that passes all understanding. What a comfort we have when we rest in the Lord. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for loving us unconditionally.

The dark times in the world seem to be ever-increasing. Social distancing is taking its toll, unrest between citizens and authorities is escalating quickly, fear and hate have a grip on our country. The ONLY answer and hope is Jesus, and the way people can see the light of the Lord is through us, His children. Renew your mind and spirit every day with His Truth and Word. It is our weapon of destruction against the enemy. You are a blessing unto the Lord!

Just so you know, our Promise Helpers website is having technical difficulties and we are working on resolving the issue.

If at any time you need prayer, please contact Promise Helpers by clicking the "Prayer" button below or visiting our Facebook page to leave a message. We have mighty Prayer Warriors ready to stand in the gap on your behalf.

We are working on another awesome Promise Helpers' Pursuit retreat, this time in the quaint town of Glen Rose, TX. Plan to come a few hours early before check-in to walk the downtown historic Square and enjoy the scenery of this well-known Texas town. The camp is practically around the corner from downtown, yay! This will be a new and exciting adventure for all of us, and we look forward to seeing what the Lord will do. It will be here before we know it, so be sure to mark it on your calendar.

On a sad but understandable note, the owners of Three Mountain Retreat Center in Clifton, TX where we have held our spring Pursuit retreats for many years have made the difficult decision to sell their property and livelihood. Per Stan and Linda's words, "We have always thought that we could continue until our ninety's (lol). However, time and high miles have taken a toll, and after much thought, discussion, and prayer, we believe it is time to see what God has planned for us for the next season." Please pray for them as they make this difficult transition, and the Lord will bring the right buyer for this phenomenal center so His work can continue. This family has become part of our Promise Helpers' family, and we pray blessings over them.
God, What Now?
by Debra Joyce

When all we see around us is the world shut down, falling apart and the everyday life we experience has been brought to a halt by an invisible enemy…

Our minds are spiraling: I have lost my job! I can’t pay my rent or buy groceries? I have no other resources. Our feelings are also spiraling. Where do we turn? Feeling FEAR? WORRY? GRIEF? LOSS? Who do we call? Feeling ALONE? DEPRESSED? HELPLESS? What do we do? Feeling PANIC? ANXIETY? POWERLESS?

Feelings are real and powerful. God created them for us to use to express ourselves. Every great and perfect gift God creates, the enemy creates a counterfeit. There is a real and present danger at work here also: the devil. He prowl’s around like a roaring lion, he comes to deceive us, lie to us, form weapons against us, as he seeks to kill, steal and destroy us. See James 1:16-17, 1 Peter 5:8, Isaiah 54:17

I feel all the same feelings YOU do! I think all the same thoughts YOU do! GOD knows exactly what we are experiencing and thinking. This did not catch Him by surprise. He has NO shortages of ways to help us get through this! Each day, each hour, each moment we have a CHOICE in how we respond. Let’s look to HIS WORD at the options and promises He has for us. Romans 12:2 Be transformed by the renewal of your mind! It is possible to break these spirals by reading and speaking HIS promises out loud! See 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 and
Psalm 91. FUN FACT: There are 7,487 promises God makes to us throughout the Bible like Isaiah 41:28-31.

Who has the answers? The Government? President Trump? The news media? Medical Professionals? Each of these may offer an option or a piece to this puzzle and maybe worldly advice of next steps. However, there is only one true answer: GOD! BELIEF! FAITH! TRUST! Faith in GOD, salvation through BELIEF in Jesus Christ plus
comfort from the Holy Spirit; whom God has placed within each of us who ask and trust. HIS word is true!! His power is REAL and available to us every moment of every day. Tap into it often! See 1 Peter 5:6-11

The enemy has formed weapons against us from the very things GOD created for us as good: our feelings. They can spin out of control and take charge of our bodies, minds, and spirit, unless we continually CHOOSE to exercise our spiritual authority over them. This unprecedented disruption to our lives is definitely a spiritual
battle FIRST. Then, as we try to make sense of the chaos surrounding us, we have the God given ability to overcome. See 1 John 5:3-5, Proverbs 3:1-8, Ephesians 6:10-18

PRAYER is the weapon giving us direct access to the throne room, where our Heavenly Father, God waits for us to come to Him, for us to seek Him. In childlike faith, we crawl up in His lap, seeking His comfort, security, quiet rest and healing. His presence will cocoon us as He wraps His comforting loving arms around us, strengthening
us, re-filling us with fruit of His spirit, courage to face this chaos within us and around us. He continues to assure us of His love and equip us to defeat these enemies with HIS most powerful weapon, the blood of Jesus! Express your gratitude and thankfulness with praise and worship. Psalm 8, James 5:13-16, Galatians 5:22, Isaiah 54:17

Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus! Give thanks to the Lord, for His love endures forever. WE CAN FACE TOMORROW BECAUSE HE LIVES! HALLELUJAH!

Blessings of JOY!

P.S. If you would like to share the goodness of the Lord during this unprecedented difficult time, click the "Share" button below to send an email to Promise Helpers, or leave a post on our Facebook page.

We love hearing from you!

Butterfly Puddler

What better way to enjoy a peaceful part of your day than to sit and watch a butterfly up close going about its daily life. Here are simple instructions on how to make a butterfly puddler, basically a butterfly feeder, so they will linger in your presence just as the Lord longs for us to linger in His presence.

When attempting to attract butterflies, the first and most important step is to plant or hang flowers that attract them to your yard. To have a really successful butterfly garden, you will also want to provide them with butterfly nectar and fresh water in a butterfly puddler. Butterflies drink by “puddling”. They sip at shallow puddles of water in mud or sand instead of landing in large open water areas. To make them feel welcome in your garden, you should include various features to supply all their needs. This project is thrifty and quick to put together.

How to make the butterfly puddler:

  1. Use a large shallow dish or container at least 18" wide. A bird feeder works.
  2. Place sand to cover at least 3/4 of your container
  3. Add just enough water to moisten the soil with shallow pockets of water
  4. Add several stones or sticks throughout for the butterflies to rest
  5. Add overripe fruit as a nectar
  6. Keep the soil just slightly moist and do not overfill. Butterflies cannot land in open water.

This is such an easy and cost-effective way to observe God's graceful creation.

This is the finished project below. Just lay the fruit on top of the sand.

Promise Helpers is a non-profit Christian ministry for women that seeks to help women experience the fullness of God’s purpose and promises for them. Our desire is to bring women to a place of personal wholeness so they can bring wholeness to their marriages, homes, families and communities. Promise Helpers is women ministering to women, reminding one another of the promises of God and encouraging one another to implement those promises into their daily lives. The foundation of Promise Helpers is prayer, for apart from Jesus Christ we can do nothing.
