UPDATE:  District Art Show Postponed Due to Rain
Due to the anticipated 90% chance of rain, FVSD will be postponing the District Art Show that is currently scheduled for next Tuesday, March 10th. We deeply appreciate the many people across the District and community who worked so hard to get things ready for next week. More information and details will be shared in the upcoming weeks, as FVSD plans to reschedule the District Art Show for a date in May 2020. We look forward to hosting the event at the District Office in May, and to once again showcasing the many artistic abilities of our FVSD students.

HIGHLIGHT: Board of Trustees Celebrates Students and Parents at Middle School Extravaganza!
Middle School Extravaganza 2020

At the regular meeting on February 12th, the Board of Trustees honored students and volunteers from Fulton, Masuda and Talbert at our annual Middle School Extravaganza!  The evening kicked off with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Boy Scout Troop 1226.  Following this, we celebrated our amazing parent volunteers for their unending support of our students and staff.  From Talbert Middle School, the Board recognized and thanked Rebecca Wheeler and Sandi Woest.  From Masuda Middle School, the Board recognized and thanked Chris Hay and Mike Nomura.  And from Fulton Middle School, the Board recognized and thanked Veronica Tran and Alina Jimenez-Newton.  We are so grateful to these volunteers for their dedication to our schools!
In addition, the  Board recognized six outstanding students from Talbert School including: Golda Miller (6th), Shalimar Aaron (6th), Falon Johnson (7th), Madeline Anguiano (7th), Ella Marbut (8th) and Brooklynn Peters (8th).  From Masuda Middle School, the Board celebrated Katelyn Tran (6th), Audrey Thompson (6th), Ruth Chen (7th), Katie Lam (7th), Andrew Hathaway (8th) and Charles Hernandez (8th).  And from Fulton Middle School, the Board highlighted Sophie Hsieh (6th), Thomas Tran (6th), Gina Ambrosio (7th), Grayson Yager (7th), Beth Arshagouni (8th) and Dat Bguten (8th).  The Board joined families, staff and members of the community in celebrating these students for their hard work and outstanding accomplishments.  For more photos from the evening, please visit our Facebook page.
SPOTLIGHT: Fountain Valley Rotary joins Kelly Osborn Memorial Foundation to Honor Ten Outstanding FVSD Students!
Rotary ESS 2020

On Tuesday, March 3rd, we were honored to join Fountain Valley Rotary and the Kelly Osborn Memorial Foundation for their Every Student Succeeding Breakfast.  Each of these students was celebrated by Fountain Valley Rotary and the Kelly Osborn Memorial Foundation for their unique ability to overcome the odds and achieve success.  Students honored included: Elisa Fonseca, Hailey Acosta, Jazarah Martinez, Mary Younan, Madison York, Oliver Chen, Ian Urinsco, Cameron Larson, Alfred Le and Gia Hung Phan.  In addition to the celebration, each of these students received a generous $500 scholarship from the Kelly Osborn Memorial Foundation.  We are so grateful to Dave Osborn and the Kelly Osborn Memorial Foundation, along with Rotary, for their amazing support of our students.  This is the 14th year for this recognition and it is truly a highlight for us all!
HIGHLIGHT: Fountain Valley School District Goes Gold to Raise Awareness for Pediatric Cancer
Go Gold 2020

On February 18th, Fountain Valley School District once again went GOLD as students and staff dressed in yellow or gold to show support and raise awareness for pediatric cancer on International Pediatric Cancer Day.  This is the second year the District has encouraged our students and staff to Go Gold and we are so proud of the outstanding participation from all of our families.  Across the District, at all ten schools site and at the District Office, students and staff from preschool through middle school proudly wore yellow and gold.  In addition, students and faculty helped raised $6,675 for Irvine-based Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, collectively surpassing our fundraising efforts from last year.  Cancer is the number one cause of disease-related death in children under the age of 15 in the United States.  And, one in four elementary schools has a child with cancer.  We are so proud of our entire FVSD Family for their support of such an important cause, because that is truly #TheFVSDWay!
SPOTLIGHT: FVSD Community See Success of Measure O at Masuda and Courreges at Community Open House
Masuda and Courreges Measure O Open Houses

On Sunday, February 29th, we opened our doors to the community to share the success of Measure O at both Masuda and Courreges Schools.  Members of our community had the opportunity to tour both sites and see the completed scope of work, ("The Big 5") air conditioning; roofs and windows; infrastructure for HVAC; safety and security; and paint, ceilings and flooring, all possible because of the generosity of our community through the passing of Measure O.  As our Measure O projects continue to progress successfully at our other sites, we continue to be grateful for our community for their support.
