Sealed Bids Opened for Woodchase Park Development

Westchase District opened sealed bids on Monday for the development and construction of Woodchase Park. Estimated to open in spring of 2021, the 1.7-acre park will be located at 3951 Woodchase Drive.
The scope of the project includes work for site clearing, grading and drainage, detention, and concrete work. The contractor will also install the playground, dog park, fencing and site furnishings, landscaping including irrigation and tree transplanting, and construct restrooms and a pavilion.
Westchase District's Board of Directors will meet Monday, June 8 to consider awarding a contract for the project.

Bounce Back Westchase Campaign Coming
Minuteman Press is galvanizing support to help Westchase District businesses rebound from COVID-19 and get back to business. Minuteman Press, which designs and prints custom print products, is operated by local owners Sharon and Paul Rayner at 3711 Briarpark Dr.
The Rayners enlisted support from elected officials and economic development organizations. Tiffany Thomas, Houston City Councilwoman, District F; Greg Travis, Houston City Councilman, District G; the Houston West Chamber of Commerce; and Westchase District have joined as sponsors and advocates for the Bounce Back Westchase Campaign.
Three phases of the campaign will be launched including a kick-off, sign up of local businesses, consumer awareness and consumer engagement. The campaign's key objective is to connect business in the District with customers via an online hub being developed by Minuteman Press where free listings feature offers that will draw customers to a business. WHAM's Spring Dash Goes Virtual

Proceeds help WHAM continue to provide food and financial relief to families struggling due to COVID-19.

Peaches Arrive, New Vendors Join the Scene

Peaches from the Hill Country arrived at the Farmers Market in mid May and everyone's thrilled. As you know, peaches are only available for a short season so we want you to get them, as they say, 'while the gettin's good.'
The Westchase District Farmers Market has peaches ahead of peak season which comes in July and August. After September, when the weather cools, peaches won't see a return until next spring.
New vendors have also joined a thriving scene of market vendors selling spices, honey, olive oil, socks, essential oils, sweet snacks, pecans, sauces, salsa, hand-crafted jewelry, dog treats, tamales, fresh bread, wine, fresh pasta, goat cheese, beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, and ready-to-eat foods. Join us every Thursday for our fresh, local variety.

Fitness Centers Reopen

For three months people stayed at home while their exercise routines went idle. Because how we work-out involves customized and individually-designed programs, gym closures made it difficult to continue well-established routines. Many at-home spaces lack nautilus machines, treadmills, free weights and indoor studios for cardio and pilates.
In Westchase District there is no shortage of fitness centers. As restrictions on gym use were recently lifted, many in the District have reopened.
Blink Fitness
was the newest gym to enter Westchase, opening its location at 11145 Westheimer in December. For now, Blink's reopened Texas clubs will be operating at 25 percent capacity on a first come, first served basis.
Consistent with CDC and local guidelines, Blink recommends members wear masks when entering the gym and when they are within six feet of another person. Once all Texas gyms reopen all memberships will be unfrozen, and billing will resume on a normal schedule.
The company recognizes that not everybody will be ready to come back to the gym right away, and is offering all members the option to refreeze their membership for an additional 30 days at no cost.
"We look forward to confidently welcoming our members back," said Blink Fitness CEO, Todd Magazine. "I know I speak for the entire Blink family when I say we're all excited to resume playing a supportive role in the fitness journeys of our members."

The wait to splash around and enjoy water fun is over. Named the best watering hole by
Great Day Houston, Noah's Ark Pool is now open. Noah's Ark Pool is the smaller
pool designed for children at the
Quillian Center's outdoor swimming facility.
Noah's Ark includes three slides and a crawl-through. The pool fun includes a mushroom water drop, a rainbow slide, a coconut water drop, and spraying water from Noah's animals. Pool hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.
There is a limit of 120 customers per time period and all admission is on a first-come, first-serve basis. All admission is $8. Located at 10570 Westpark, Quillian Center is the sports and recreation ministry of First Methodist Houston.
