US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo Inspires OC Audience

Harjo, an author and performer who recently became the first Native American selected as Poet Laureate of the United States, drew a packed house as the featured speaker at the 11th annual Creative Edge Lecture. The event was held Friday, Feb. 28 at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Read more here.
New CAC Program Offers Grants Up to $500,000

The California Arts Council has announced a new Innovations + Intersections grant pilot. This unique program offers funding for arts organizations to fuse technology or wellness into arts projects addressing society's most pressing challenges. Cal State Fullerton Visual Arts Complex To Be Transformed

California State University, Fullerton is embarking on a $66 million project to remodel and modernize the buildings in its Visual Arts Department complex and to add another 4,500 square feet. The design team has been selected and the project is now scheduled for completion in December 2022. Read more here.
Russian Orchestra Denied Visa, Cancels Tour That Included Soka

The Siberian State Symphony Orchestra has canceled its 2020 U.S. tour, including a March 12 concert at Soka Performing Arts Center in Aliso Viejo, after the group's application to travel to the U.S. was denied, Soka officials said Thursday, Feb. 13. Read more here.
