Nancy Dawes

I dreamt of drawing my whole life - I lacked training and confidence, and I didn’t think I could consider myself an artist.

A few years ago I finally decided that I was going to learn to draw!

I found the ZentangleŽ drawing method, developed by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, when I was searching for online drawing programs.  The designs were so interesting and beautiful that I couldn't wait to find an instructor in my area so that I could take a class.

After taking all the classes I could find locally, I decided to become an instructor, so that I could help others learn to draw with the ZentangleŽ method.  In November 2013 I journeyed to Rhode Island USA (the only location in North America where the certification process is offered) to become a CZT in the 13th class.

Patches Goes on a Date

Earlier this year, while weeding my garden on a sunny afternoon, I noticed a small creature hiding among the plants in the far corner.  The little fellow with a tall hat that covered his eyes, introduced himself as Patches, the gnome. Over the course of several days, I learned how he came to be in my garden and a bit about his family. During our visits, I was able to sketch Patches, his family and some of his favorite flowers.  Those sketches led me to design a series of classes featuring gnomes. I hope you will enjoy learning about the history of gnomes and their family life from my garden in B.C.

Join Nancy to learn more about the adventures of Patches as he goes on a date! You'll draw patches and his pretty companion in a beautiful garden decorated with ZentangleŽ patterns.
