Talking With Mrs. Tompkins
|
We have just completed our fifth week and we are proud to report that students have earned another Freedom Friday Dress Down Day. Our Director of Strategic Communications, Lauren Gross, wrote a press release celebrating one month of in-school learning. It is an excellent testimony to the team effort it has taken to make this possible. You can read the press release HERE.
Next week will be Spirit Week (see Spirit Week Schedule below). Our student council and moderators have put together a fun schedule of Spirit Days, and we plan to hold a modified pep rally on Friday where the fall sports teams, captains and homecoming court will be announced. We appreciate everyone's support and participation in these events and look forward to an enjoyable week.
As a reminder, there is no school on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Our teachers will be attending a virtual Diocesan conference that day.
This week marked the official start of fall season - a favorite time of year for many people. I would like to leave you with this fall-inspired prayer. Perhaps you can take a minute to say it as you enjoy a walk outdoors or during a morning cup of coffee or tea. It is a lovely way to start the day.
Father, thank You for this new season. Thank You for the crispness and freshness coming in the air. Thank You for loving me and carrying me through the past season, and I now embrace what You have for me in the days ahead. I trust You and I choose, right now, to surrender all I am to You, knowing You love me fully and faithfully. Strengthen me to live in obedience, encourage me to walk uprightly, empower me to speak boldly in Your name. It's in Your name, Jesus, we pray. Amen!
May God Bless You,
Donna Tompkins
Interim Principal

On Nov. 11, 2020, Delone Catholic will be hosting a virtual financial aid seminar hosted by Diona Brown, Representative from PHEAA. This seminar will be of special interest to senior parents, especially those sending a student to college for the first time. Discussion topics will include: completion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form needed to receive federal/state aid, filling out the CSS, the College Scholarship Search Profile, required by some colleges to qualify for scholarships at their school and how to access other scholarship opportunities. These topics are relevant for students attending any college. The meeting will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. Ms. Brown will be available for questions at the conclusion of her presentation. All senior parents are encouraged to attend. Use THIS LINK to attend the meeting. Attendees will not be able to speak, but can type in questions in the Q & A feature.

Calling All Parent Photograpers
|
The Delone Catholic Yearbook, The Delonian, needs your help! After many years of service, our long-time school photographer David McFarland retired this spring. We have now hired a new photographer, but she will not be in the school, or at school events, as often as Mr. McFarland was.
We are asking parents who are at sporting events, extracurricular activities or any school-related functions to take photos, especially candid shots and send them to Delone Catholic Yearbook. ([email protected]).
All submissions are welcomed, but please know that not all submissions will be used. All photos will be reviewed by Delone Catholic staff for appropriateness and to confirm that all students in the photos have signed photo permission forms.
Photos may also be used on social media, in print publication and for other school purposes.
If you have any questions, you may contact Mrs. Lauren Gross, Director of Strategic Communications, at [email protected], or Mr. John Fournie, Publications teacher, at [email protected].

SportsLeader Virtue of the Week
|
One pillar of the SportsLeader program is a weekly virtue that we incorporate into our athletic practices and throughout our school community. Every week, we will share them here to encourage the students to take the virtue into their homes as well!
Our virtue this week is INTEGRITY - the strength to be consistent between your values and your actions. There is the common phrase, "Practice what you preach," which we have all heard. That sums up integrity very well. It is easy to talk the talk, or say you believe in something, but then act completely different. Just like it is easy to say you are "All In" and yet still give half-hearted effort. Let's live integrity this week by setting goals and then discussing them with a family member to keep us accountable.
