"Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."
~Jn 20:29
Resurrection of the Dead
“I believe in the resurrection of the dead.” Each Sunday, we make a profession of faith that includes our belief in the resurrection of the dead. This means a belief that on the last day, our physical body (or cremated remains) will rise from the grave and be reunited with our eternal soul that (pray God) has lived in heaven awaiting the return of the Lord. Jesus was the first fruits of the resurrection (1 Cor 15:23). The image on the front cover of today’s bulletin depicts the physicality of the resurrection. It is from a painting by Caravaggio (1571-1610), a great Italian artist, who imagined Thomas placing his finger inside the wound of the Risen Christ, as described in today’s Gospel (John 20: 19-31).
Frassati Catholic Academy Gala
The Gala is the largest fundraiser of the year for Frassati Catholic Academy. It is always a great night to celebrate and support the great work being accomplished at the school. This year’s Gala is scheduled for April 24, 2020. Instead of an evening at the school, we are moving online and going virtual. All parishioners and friends of Frassati are invited and encouraged to “attend” the Gala. You can see and bid on wonderful silent auction items. Please go to https://frassati-wbl.org/frassati-gala/ to register for the Gala. The online auction begins at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 22 and closes at 10:00 PM on Friday, April 24. There is no cost to register for Gala.

Fund-a-Need Project –
Chapel of the Beatitudes at the Parish Life Center
Last fall, a suggestion was made to have a chapel at the Parish Life Center, where we could celebrate Mass and reserve the Blessed Sacrament. This chapel would be available to the students and staff of Frassati, the students and leaders in Faith Formation, the parish staff, and small faith sharing groups. I brought the idea to Archbishop Hebda, who gave his permission to move forward with the project. The chapel will be named “Chapel of the Beatitudes”, recognizing that all of us are called to live the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-10) and because Pope St. John Paul II called Blessed Giorgio Frassati “the man of the Beatitudes.”

We now have a design for chapel, which transforms our current “Sacred Space” on the second floor the Parish Life Center into a simple and beautiful chapel. You can see the design and support this joint project of Frassati and St. Mary of the Lake by registering for the Gala. You will see liturgical items, including chairs, statues, the tabernacle, altar, and ambo (lectern), that can be “purchased” by you for the chapel (though we are not adding memorial plaques to purchased items). Again, go to https://frassati-wbl.org/frassati-gala/, register, get your bid number and then support the chapel in the Fund -a-Need. Our hope is that the chapel will be ready for use in the fall.

Special Drawing for those who register for the Gala: As an encouragement to “attend” the Gala, an anonymous donor has made it possible to award five $100 cash prizes. The five winners will be drawn from those who register for the Gala and receive a bid number. You do not need to buy anything to win, but the hope is that all bidders will find something they can buy in the silent auction or will make a donation for the chapel in the Fund-a-Need.
Easter Thanks
Thanks to everyone who attended Easter Mass at St. Mary of the Lake. We had over 2100 views of our Easter Mass, which is 500 more than we had on Palm Sunday.

I am grateful to those who sent me cards, emails, meals or gifts. I appreciate the acts of love and concern that have been offered to the staff and me during this time of separation. We miss being with you and look forward to being with you very soon!

Confessions
I will continue to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the parking lot every Saturday morning, beginning at 9:00 AM. I will stay until 10:00 AM or until those present have attended, whichever is later.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
I will continue to expose the Blessed Sacrament every day from 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. On Monday through Friday, the Blessed Sacrament will be at the Parish Life Center. On Saturday and Sunday, the Blessed Sacrament will be at the church. The Blessed Sacrament is inside the PLC and the church; you will remain outside. Please observe the social distancing should other adorers be present.

Peace, Fr. Talbot

Consider Remote Giving to Support Our Parish
There are currently three ways to give electronically:
  1. Monthly amount transferred from your bank account (click on the DONATE button on our website home page to find a form). It would be better to mail the form to us, since you need to include a voided check.
  2. Weekly, monthly, or one-time checks sent by your bank or other financial service organization (contact your bank to set up a plan that works for you). It is helpful to have your envelope number on the check your bank sends to us.
  3. Weekly, monthly, or one-time gifts charged to your credit card (click on the DONATE button on our website home page to set up your gift).

There is a way to give remotely that is not “high tech”: Simply mail us your check. Our address:
4690 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake, 55110.

Thank you so much for your support in this difficult time.

YMCA Food Distribution
The YMCA is partnering with Loaves & Fishes and UnitedHealth Group to serve free healthy meals to families in need. These organizations believe that supplying healthy fresh food is critical to supporting families in our communities to alleviate food insecurity and hunger. Together they combine the YMCA region-wide distribution network, Loaves & Fishes internationally recognized program, and UnitedHealth Group efforts to cover the more than $2 million in food costs and wages for the cafeteria employees preparing meals for people in the Greater Twin Cities.

Families may pick up food from Noon – 2:00 PM Monday through Friday at select YMCA and choose a meal package for a family of four including a protein, vegetables and other fresh food. Also, lunch bags with a sandwich, snacks and fruit are available. The White Bear Lake location is a designated pickup spot. Go to
