in addition to providing affordable and responsive higher education to thousands of Pennsylvanians every year.
Community College Leaders Discuss National Priorities
Recently, leaders from Pennsylvania's community colleges traveled to Washington D.C. for the 2020 Community College National Legislative Summit, organized by the American Association of Community Colleges and Association of Community College Trustees. Among other things, leaders requested investment in Pell Grants and support of the Higher Education Act.
Students Tackle Opioid Crisis at "Ground Zero" in Philadelphia
Nursing students at  Community College of Philadelphia are facing Philadelphia's opioid crisis head-on, spending time at "ground zero" of the city's opioid crisis as part of a six-week community rotation. Students dress wounds and do blood pressure screening at the Kensington Storefront run by Porch Light, a collaboration between the city and Mural Arts
Business and Accounting Students Prepare Taxes for Free
Seventeen Montgomery County Community College students enrolled in various business and accounting programs are helping their fellow students with preparing, reviewing and filing their 2019 taxes. Through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and the Campaign for Working Families, taxes are being prepared now through April 9.
