Coeur d'Alene Lake Water Quality Symposium Draws Big Interest

Over 190 people spent last Wednesday at the Our Gem Symposium listening, learning and dialoging about Coeur d'Alene Lake water quality protection needs resulting from upstream historic mine waste contamination.

Speakers, panelists and participants kept coming back to three points of consensus: 1) water quality trends are raising alarm bells, 2) community outreach and education is essential, and 3) real change will require collective action across community groups, agencies, the Coeur d'Alene Tribe, businesses and conservation groups.
