HONOR A LOVED ONE
AT EASTER

By paying tribute to a loved one this Easter you will also support FBC mission teams. With each gift of $10 or more, a portion will be used to prepare a small display of lilies in the sanctuary on Easter and the remainder will be directed to the Day Mission Fund, supporting the efforts of various mission teams sent from our congregation. An insert in the Easter worship order will list the names of those memorialized or honored along with the donor’s name.  Submit your request  HERE. Checks or electronic payments should be received no later than  Wednesday, April 1 . Forms are also available in Sunday School boxes. Checks should be mailed to: Financial Administrator, First Baptist Church, 99 N Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC 27603; please write “Easter Gift” in the memo line.

The Body programs for Discipleship Training on Wednesday nights in March will be visits to nearby non-profits meeting needs of low-income neighbors in Wake County. Each location is approximately five minutes away. The programs will be 30-45 minutes at most so the people riding the bus can be back at church by 7:30pm. If you wish to provide your own transportation, please arrive at the non-profit location no later than 6:40pm. For more information about The Green Chair Project, read the article below!

BODY ELECTIVE TRIP TO
THE GREEN CHAIR PROJECT

For our Body Elective this Wednesday, March 4 , we will be taking a trip to the The Green Chair Project, located at 1853 Capital Boulevard, Raleigh, NC 27604. For the past ten years, the Green Chair Project has provided the comforts of home to low-income families across Wake County transitioning out of homelessness, crisis, or disaster. By accepting donations of gently used home furnishings and accessories, The Green Chair Project provides a place for these families to shop with dignity and to choose the items they would like in their home. With a goal of serving 1,200+ families in 2020 across three distinct program areas, The Green Chair Project is a formidable partner helping those in need in the affordable housing crisis our community faces. Please join us for a tour of their facility led by Graham Satisky of the Project. The bus will leave from church promptly at 6:35pm, and we'll return back to church at 7:30pm. If you are arranging your own transportation, please plan to meet us there at 6:40pm. For more information about The Green Chair Project, visit their website.
TABLE DECORATORS NEEDED FOR MARCH

Please consider helping the social committee with table decorations for Wednesday night suppers during the month of March . You do not have to be artistic or creative to help with this project! Decorations are typically simple, and we have plenty of things to choose from in the Fellowship Hall storage room. The sign-up link below has more information explaining this opportunity and the months available. Thank you for helping create a beautiful space for our Wednesday night suppers!

For questions, please email Dawn Wade.

MARCH MISSION PROJECT

This month we will support "Feed the Pack" which is a food pantry at NC State that provides food for students, faculty, and staff. 14% (4750) of their students are cutting portion sizes, skipping meals, and going hungry. The pantry opened in 2012 and has collected over 137,650 pounds of food since then. Close to 10,000 people have been served since they opened. The pantry is open five days a week and folks can shop once a week. While they accept most any non perishable items, we will concentrate on these needed breakfast items:

Cereal
Oatmeal
Pop Tarts
Granola

You may place your donations in the marked drawer in the Lewis Building cabinet anytime in March. Thank you for your donations of cleaning supplies for Interact - they will be appreciated. - Anne Cooke
CBFNC ANNUAL GATHERING

Imagine in your mind’s eye the faces of your closest friends, those who know you, who support you, and who share your basic values. Aren’t these the people you most like to spend time with? Is there anything more encouraging than to gather with people who “get you"? People who know you and appreciate you for who you are?
FBC Raleigh has an opportunity to gather with just such a group of friends next month right here in our own “backyard.” The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of NC will have its annual gathering at Trinity Baptist Church, Raleigh, March 19-21. CBFNC is a strategic partner with FBC Raleigh in carrying out God’s mission in our home state. It is more than that, however. It is our denominational home, the nearest group of Baptists who share our vision of how to be Baptist Christians in this time and place. Most of the opportunities for fellowship, learning, and worship will take place on Friday, March 20 . Workshops throughout the day will explore the theme of “Embracing Kingdom Community.” Local pastors Paul Anderson of the Fellowship of Raleigh church and Randy McKinney of Longview Baptist will preach in the morning worship service. Likely the most accessible opportunity for many will be the evening worship celebration at 6:30pm. Dr. Jerusha Neal, assistant professor of homiletics at Duke Divinity School, will be the preacher for the service. Our very own And Also With 'Cue is catering Friday night's dinner, and David & Leah will lead a breakout session on asset-based community development. Please consider joining members of the Denominational Relations Committee, our ministers, and many members of our FBC Raleigh family at this inspiring gathering. It is always good to be among friends! -Barry Jones, Chair of Denominational Relations

COMMUNITY GARDEN TEAM

This Saturday, March 7, is our first community garden work day! We'll meet in the parking lot of the garden at 9am, and should finish up by 11am. The community garden is located at Cedar Point Apartments (7101 Sandy Forks Rd.) Make sure to bring your own pair of gloves, and wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty. There are gardening tools located in a shed at the garden so there's no need to bring any (unless you're just partial to your own!). This is an ongoing project, so please feel free to sign up once or as many times as you would like. For questions or more information, email Libby Barnes.

DO MORE, SERVE MORE, CHURCH MORE STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN

As of  February 27  we have received  176 pledges totaling $1,231,336.89 for the 2020 budget. Our finance committee is proposing a very slight decrease for 2020, bringing the total budget to $1,586,646. The proposed budget was presented at the October church conference and, when pledge cards have been returned to the church, the budget will be presented again for approval by our congregation. For your review, copies of the full budget are available in the church library and in the members-only section of our website. You may also request a copy by calling the church office at (919) 832-4485. Please help us meet our budget goal by returning your pledge card to the church office, or by  pledging online.   This year, let’s work together to serve more, do more, church more.
