It was gut-wrenching and frightening to witness the recent violence at our US Capitol and to anticipate more potential violence, including at our state Capitol. It made me think a lot about Mississippi federal and state legislators and their staff, so many of whom have welcomed Families as Allies staff and families into their offices and spent time learning about what children and families in Mississippi need. It is heartbreaking to think about any of them facing threats or danger. I am thankful for their safety and hope whatever the difficult path is to reconciliation and healing, that we find it and that Families as Allies supports it.  

We have several trainings coming up in February and will be posting those soon. This week, we have our virtual family support group on Thursday and training in Family Driven Practice on Friday. The Families as Allies quarterly board meeting is Thursday at 6:30 PM. Meetings are open to the public and include opportunities for public comment. Don't forget our virtual New Year Open House this Monday. We hope to see everyone there and remember to send in your suggestions and feedback beforehand!
