Michigan Census Needs More Help!

Governor Whitmer Signs Bill to Provide Funding for Enhanced Federal Unemployment Benefits
On September 8, Governor Whitmer signed Senate Bill 745, which appropriates $2.8 billion in supplemental funding from federal revenues awarded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to cover a temporary $300 per week enhanced federal payment for eligible Michiganders receiving unemployment benefits. Read More

NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith applauded the passage of the "Expanding Broadcast Ownership Opportunities Act of 2019" on Wednesday (9/9) by the House Energy & Commerce Committee. Read More

2020 Annual Regulatory Fees Due by September 25 - Fee Filer Now Open and FCC Accepting Waiver Requests

The FCC released a Public Notice late Friday afternoon (9/4) announcing the annual regulatory fees for 2020 will be due by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on September 25, and setting out the procedures for payment.  Another Public Notice announced that the fee filing system is now open to accept fee payment.  A third Public Notice set out the procedures for asking for a waiver of the fees based on financial hardship. Read More

EAS IPAWS Signing Certificate Expires October 28, 2020
Users of Sage and DASDEC ENDEC EAS equipment are reminded that a signing certificate used by FEMA to validate CAP alerts will expire on October 28, 2020 at 14:05:29 UTC. Manufacturers have released a firmware update that you must install to permit your ENDEC to continue to receive EAS CAP alerts from FEMA after that date. Read More

WCMU Public Media Names Jim Rademaker as General Manager
WCMU Public Media, central and northern Michigan's leading PBS and NPR station, announced Tuesday (9/8) that Jim Rademaker has been named as General Manager. Rademaker transitions into the role after being the station's Interim General Manager for more than a year. Read More

WDIV Names Dianna Sharpe New Business Manager
WDIV-TV (Detroit), the Graham Media Group owned NBC affiliate, announces the appointment of Dianna Sharpe as the station's new Business Manager. Sharpe will replace Kathy Salazar, the current Vice President and Business Manager, who announced her retirement in August. Sharpe and Salazar will work in tandem until the end of the year. Read More

WYCD Earns CMA Nomination

WTLZ Holds Annual 'Family Affair' School Supply Giveway

FEMA provided masks to the Michigan Association of Broadcasters in June. As we near the flu season and other fall activities, let us know if your station needs masks. The MAB Foundation Board of Directors approved a new partnership with Central Michigan University's School of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts for the Fall 2020 semester.
The partnership will focus on developing mentoring relationships between students with an Electronic Media Sales Minor and broadcast industry professionals.
