Update on Early Childhood Initiatives Given at Special Meeting *
The Children’s Trust Ad Hoc Early Childhood Committee held a series of presentations and discussions on November 9 to discuss the latest data, trends and needs related to early childhood policy and align strategies and resources to help ensure families have access to high-quality child care options. “The science is clear on the matter – supporting quality early childhood development transforms the lives of children and their families, which ultimately benefits our entire community,” said President & CEO James R. Haj. “We know it will take all of our efforts, resources and vision to ensure our youngest learners are thriving.”

Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava also joined the meeting, voicing her support for the initiatives being discussed and announcing the creation of a Miami-Dade County Children’s Commission. According to analysis presented by Brittany Birken, Ph.D. only 44% of US households with children under the age of 13 can afford child care at full cost.

The Children’s Trust Chief of Research, Evaluation and Strategic Planning K. Lori Hanson, Ph.D. and Associate Director of Programs Rachel Spector outlined The Trust’s early childhood investments, called Thrive by 5, which includes a total of $48 million distributed across child care quality, child care access and early intervention programs and initiatives.

Special Provider Session on Enhanced Modules in Trust Central on Friday *
The Children's Trust will host a general session for all Trust-funded providers on Friday, November 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. We will share exciting updates coming to Trust Central including enhancements that will make your fiscal and programmatic data entry and access easier. The Provider Meeting will take place virtually. Please ensure that all staff members who are essential to our partnership attend; this includes your executive director/CEO, along with the individuals who manage your program, data and fiscal documents.

Invoicing and Budget Modifications
With the enhancements to Trust Central coming soon we want to ensure a smooth transition. Please see important guidance below to help prepare:

  • Open Labs will be scheduled starting in December. Dates will be shared in advance.

  • The Children’s Trust will be closed December 24 through January 1, reopening January 3. With the transition and closure, we want to ensure providers receive payment. To do this, your November 2021 invoice needs to be submitted by December 3rd, 2021, to ensure you get a check before we close. Payments will resume in January. We understand this only gives you 3 days to submit your November invoice, please submit the best version you can, we can reconcile in your December 2021 invoice.

  • If you are behind on invoices, you must be up to date through October 2021 by November 30th. The Children’s Trust cannot guarantee payment before we close if your November invoice is not submitted by December 3rd. Please work with your program manager to create a plan to get current before November 30th.

  • Any budget modifications that are currently in progress must be completed and approved by November 30, 2021. Providers will be able to resume the process to revise their budgets in January 2022. Please work with your program manager to do any pre-planning.
