Flu shot exemption requests due Sept. 19: APP aligned physicians on staff at Advocate Aurora Health hospitals are required to receive a flu vaccine to promote a safe working environment and help prevent flu transmission among our patients, communities and each other. In line with the Immunization Policy, you must receive a flu shot by Nov. 9 or complete a medical or religious exemption form by Sept. 19. Flu shots will be offered onsite at our facilities later in September, with schedules available prior to the clinics opening. IMPORTANT: The process for getting a flu shot through our onsite Employee Health Flu Clinics or from a physician, pharmacy or outside clinic will be available in the next few weeks. Please hold on getting your flu shot until these details are available.

ACL Labs annual compliance notice: As a participant in federally funded health care programs, ACL Labs is required to deliver annual compliance education. Click here for details.

Epic Updates

Epic staff message update: On Aug. 24, Advocate Aurora experienced an unexpected situation resulting in thousands of physicians, APCs and team members receiving hundreds of Staff Messages in their Epic and ECL In Basket. Unfortunately, many recipients “replied all,” which has resulted in even more widespread distribution of the Staff Message in question. The HIT team is actively working to stop any additional messaging and retract the messages that are out there, although this may take several days. Processes will also be put in place to prevent this from happening again in the future.

Code status redesign: Updates to the code status storyboard and order display are effective Sept. 15. The question “Patient is a DNR” will change to “CPR in case of Cardiac Arrest”. The CPR intervention is only for cardiac arrest. “Pre-Arrest” will also be added after each pre-arrest intervention to clarify these are applicable only to pre-arrest emergency situations. Read more in the SBAR.

Epic Update: Ambulatory Epic Connect: APCs new and established patients and health maintenance – Hepatitis B vaccine update and more.

Epic Update: Hospital edition for Physicians and APCs: Dobutamine shortage for stress testing, code status storyboard display and order display updates and learn how to build reports in SlicerDicer.
