Don’t skip out on art and music while your kids are home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Art and music help kids develop discipline, creativity, confidence, and critical thinking skills. It helps build connections with others, improves memory and teaches about different cultures. It strengthens language, reading and math skills. Plus, the arts make us feel better and we could all use a little more of that these days. Click for online art and music resources to inspire kids at home.
Being stuck at home isn't ideal, but here are ways to make dealing with self-isolation from COVID-19 just a little bit more fun for the whole family.
Tending to our personal health seems important but also really difficult in situations like the current pandemic, when our time feels consumed with urgent work issues. We may feel that if we don’t get a task done, our students will suffer or programs will fail. However, if we become mentally exhausted, overtired, or drained of energy, we risk a complete shutdown mentally or physically—and at that point, no tasks will get done.
The  CDC recommends that children and adolescents ages 6 to 17 years do 60 minutes or more  of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity daily. But what to do if you’re stuck indoors? We’ve got you covered with this list of amazing virtual PE resources that can help you find ways to bust some moves in the great indoors. You will find the top virtual P.E. streaming videos, apps, and lesson plans.
There are 2 types of tools on this page. You'll find games and calendars for families to use to make their home an Active Home. You'll also find resources to help teachers and parents partner together to provide meaningful movement opportunities that progress students toward physical education and social & emotional learning outcomes.
