May 12, 2020
Dear Saint families,

Happy Tuesday! I hope and pray that all the moms had a beautiful Mother’s Day! I also want to share gratitude to the many families and parents for their kindness and recognition given to our fabulous teachers in honor of Teacher Appreciation week! Thank you for your support, generosity and kindness. You are in our prayers as you guide your children as parents and also fulfill a teaching role throughout this distance learning.

Last week we also spread Christ’s love to our class of 2020 through the delivery of special yard signs! If you haven’t been able to, please be sure to check out the pictures on our social media! It is beautiful to see all the smiling faces as our soon-to-be graduates were met with a bit of a surprise. It was wonderful to send our love to them in this special way!

Well, here we are with just a little over a week to go, thank you for your continued dedication to finishing strong. These last few months have definitely presented many challenges for all of us and we appreciate your understanding as we navigated such unchartered territory. As we close out the year, we have created a schedule for you to return loaned school materials as well as pick up your child(ren)’s personal belongings. Please see below the schedule that reflects the times for each grade level to drop off/ and pick up materials. Thank you for social distancing and wearing a mask when you come to campus. Please come during your assigned time, but you are welcome to pick up materials for all your children at once.

We remain hopeful that we will be able to open our doors in August for the 20-21 school year. Please know that we have established a task force and will be planning and re-evaluating our Distance Learning Plan (DLP) so that we can provide a more comprehensive learning experience if needed in the near future. We will be following TEA and our accrediting agency guidelines as we move forward to ensure our students’ needs are met. We will continue to send out communication to all families in July with all updates for the upcoming year.

Thank you again for your continued support and prayers and I hope you enjoy our virtual Fun in the Sun spirit days later this week!

Please take a moment and complete the 2019-2020 StJPII Parent Survey. Below is the survey link. Your feedback is truly important as we continue to grow as a school community. As you answer the questions, please keep the entire academic year of 2019-2020 in mind. The survey will only take a few minutes to complete, it is anonymous, and your responses will provide valuable insights about how we can continuously improve and maintain excellence. We look forward to hearing from you! The survey will close  on May 20, 2020.   Thank you again for your feedback.

Virtual "Christ's Love is the Key"
Our love bulletin board is growing! As you know, our school theme this year is "Christ's Love is the Key". When we were together as a student body, we took this idea to heart, and learned about ways that we can show Christ's love to others. We have an oversized key that visited many homerooms that provided a daily reminder about the importance of showing Christ's love through compassion, courage, service and faith - which also happen to be the cornerstone virtues of our House System.

Students can still earn hearts even while they are at home!
  • Andrew Dominy - cleaned up the patio as a birthday surprise for his Dad
  • Josh Wiley - showed forgiveness for his brother

Help us grow our "virtual bulletin board" by adding more yellow hearts to our wall! Please submit how you are sharing Christ's love to:  communications@jp2.org .
Be not afraid...To Give
Thank you to our many families who have already given to this year's Annual Fund. We are living in unprecedented times and facing unprecedented needs. But we also trust that our Lord will continue to bless StJPII, just as He always has. We realize that everyone is in a much different position than we were before Spring Break. So much has changed in our lives with homeschooling, working from home, worrying about loved ones, and concern over the financial markets. As we look to the end of this semester it weighs heavy on our hearts that we won't be able to close the year together. As we make plans now for reopening, we anticipate that our families will face even greater long-term financial needs due to the pandemic. If you have not yet given to the Annual Fund, but still have the ability to do so, please know that it will make a tremendous difference and help us keep our community together. Now more than ever your gift will ensure that a StJPII Catholic education remains possible for every desiring family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

The recent Coronavirus Stimulus Package that was just signed into law has some impact on charitable giving. For example, smaller gifts, up to $300, are now 100% tax deductible even if you do not itemize; and individuals can deduct it up to 100% of their AGI during 2020. Additionally, business giving has been increased to 25% of taxable income. Thank you for considering these incentives when giving to StJPII.

Summer Enrichment Program
We are moving our Summer Enrichment Program to July 6 - 24. We will
follow all necessary guidelines set by health authorities, TEA and
Governor Abbott for the safety of our staff and students. Children 3
years old through 8th grade are invited to the StJPII Summer
Enrichment Program (SEP), where we emphasize hands-on exploration in a fun, stimulating and supportive environment. The program features
small class sizes and is taught by highly-qualified teachers. (Before and after care is available too.) Registrations will be accepted through June 5. Send your registration forms directly to Mrs. McCurry's email ( kmccurry@jp2.org). Please send payments to the school. Either mail your check to school or drop your check off Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at the front office. Make
sure to mark the envelope attention Kim McCurry/SEP. We will proceed with this plan unless we are directed otherwise by local or state authorities. In the event that the Summer Enrichment Program is
cancelled, your payment will be refunded.
