The Future of NYC Is Diverse, Affordable and Sustainable: Panel
|
|
When Melissa Burch was a child, and people would ask her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she had an answer ready. “A New Yorker.”
Burch told this anecdote during a discussion about the direction of the city post-vaccine at a CREW New York luncheon Tuesday [March 3], together with two other powerful women in commercial real estate: Elizabeth Muskat, managing director and global head of architecture and Bank of New York Mellon, and Linda Foggie, senior vice president and North America head of corporate occupier at Turner & Townsend.
The main takeaway was that, with the city at a clear inflection point, there is an opportunity for change, growth and rebuilding a better city.

Our members are the lifeblood of CREWNY and vital to the inclusion and advancement of all women in CRE. So, CREWNY’s Member Engagement and Empowerment Committee has launched, and will launch, a series of programs for 2021 holistically focused on the well-being of our members. Please stay tuned for more information, and join the journey by participating in these programs!
Upcoming Events:
-
CREWNY Connections (Registration is open): April 15th, 8:30-9:45 a.m. Please join us for this enhanced Connections event, including a fireside chat with a Featured Member, Nayada Lugji, Senior Compliance Manager, Americas | Lendlease, small-group, topic-focused break-out discussions and other features.
-
CREWNY CARES (Registration to open soon): May 5th, noon to 1:00 p.m. This Program will continue to focus holistically on our members, providing the tools, benefits and opportunities available to you from CREW Network and CREWNY, and including one or more Featured Members. Among other things, we will continue exploring the tools, benefits and opportunities provided by CREW Network, and discuss timely topics with expert members.
Member Survey: Hopefully, you took the Member Survey in early March, designed so that we can better understand your desired value proposition from CREWNY and how CREWNY can better communicate and provide that value proposition. We are reviewing the results, and in conjunction with other research, plan to implement programs and measures responding to member consensus on what it important to you.

The launch of our new “Member Mondays” profile of a different CREWNY member each Monday on social media, on our website and in other ways, was very successful! Our Featured Members for March were: Julia Rocco, Deborah Farahmand, Gina Mavica and Julie Reimann.
Please stay tuned for, and support, our Featured Members on Mondays. Initially, we will randomly contact different members to be featured, but eventually, we will have a process by which interested members can volunteer.

Cheryl McKissack made the City & State New York 2021 Construction Power 50 list that was just published last month. It's the first time this list has come out and recognizes that even during COVID in 2020 the people honored provided a lifeline to the economy and are poised to play critical parts in the recovery efforts moving into this year. So inspiring! She's #34.
