Dear AL Community,
While Governor Parson's announcement closing Missouri public schools for the rest of the school year isn't a surprise, this is not the outcome any of us wanted, and that we all hoped to be back to end the school year together. We know there are many questions that you have that our task force discussed today and we will have answers to these and more beginning next week. In the meantime, the calendar through the end of this school year is as follows:
*
The last day of school for students will move from May 28 to May 22, 2020. Live classrooms and online learning will continue through this date of May 22.
*
The only exception is next Friday, April 17 will be half a day with only live sessions and no office hours so teachers can attend Professional Development.
I want you to know that I empathize with parents and what you and your families are going through during this time. It's difficult to balance all of the aspects of our lives with the uncertainties of this pandemic. We are all in this together and you have our commitment that we will continue to work tirelessly with you during this time with the goal to successfully educate students in a culture that is caring, inclusive and equitable.
I am impressed with how students and parents have taken on this new challenge. While I am pleased with the progress, we do know there have been some areas of improvements and encourage you to take the survey we sent to each of you to help us identify what can be improved.
As always, if we can offer any additional support to you or your children through this experience, please let me know.
Have a great weekend!
Elimane Mbengue
