OPEN FOR LEARNING:
BOATING EDUCATION CENTER OPEN FOR BUSINESS AT LAKE WHITE STATE PARK
The lake, known to some as one of the crowned jewels of Pike County, now has a place for boaters to learn about recreation and safety. Today, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) officially opened the new Boater Education Center at Lake White State Park.
“Lake White is a treasure to so many people in the community, and this new center will help more of them safely enjoy it,” ODNR Director Mary Mertz said. “I am so excited to open this place where people can learn to love the water and I hope it will draw even more families, groups of friends, and young people to the park.”
The new building includes a 2,020 square-foot park shelter with storage rooms, restrooms, patios, and a pavilion area. Education courses will be offered throughout the year for new boaters and include topics such as operating safely, legal requirements, water sports, and what to do in a boating emergency. The building will also be available for community use. The total cost of this project was $852,400.
Lake White State Park offers a wide variety of outdoor recreation. Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy boating, paddling and fishing. For those who prefer land, the park offers scenic picnic areas. Read more about what visitors can do and see at Lake White here.
The ODNR Division of Parks and Watercraft provides exceptional outdoor recreation and boating opportunities by balancing outstanding customer service, education, and conservation of Ohio’s 75 state parks and waterways.
ODNR ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all. Visit the ODNR website at ohiodnr.gov.

Beginning with athletic training services for student-athletes, those partnerships have continued to grow over the years and now include significant new investments that will help partner districts further meet the needs of young people in their communities.
“These partnerships build upon Adena’s commitment to provide not only the highest quality clinical care close to home but to support the overall health of our communities,” said Steve Keating, Director of Employer and Institutional Development for the Health System. “Many of our caregivers have children attending schools in the communities we serve and face the same challenges as other students and families in working toward a brighter future.
