Director's Note
Dear Ivymount Families,

Fall is in the air and we are making plans for a variety of activities, events, and interesting curriculum material this fall.

First up, remember to mark your calendars for this coming Thursday, when our programs will hold virtual Back to School Night (B2SN) events in the early evening. You will be receiving more information and a Zoom link from your program if you haven't already.
Also, our mental health department is planning an information event about self-care and compassion. Be kind to yourself and try to take a break from family demands to attend.

Have an excellent week.

Sincerely,

Susan Holt

With so many families making purchases online, we want you to know that your everyday spending can also help Ivymount. In the past several years, Almost $5,000 has been raised through the Amazon Smile program for the Ivymount Foundation. These funds support staff training, technology and other materials for your student.

PHS Welcomes Speaker
This past Friday afternoon, the School to Work Post High School program hosted a guest speaker who spoke with students about the voting process. Dr. Gilberto Zelaya, the Community Empowerment/Public Information Officer for the Montgomery County Board of Elections, gave a presentation about the voting system – how the process works, why it’s important to vote, and how people can support the process beyond just voting themselves.

The discussion was around voting in general and did not delve into politics or specific candidates for office. The students asked questions about how to register and also learned about ways to get involved with helping others vote.

Save These PTA Dates
The PTA will be hosting monthly Parent/Caregiver Hangouts so that Ivynount families can continue to share and support one another. The September Hangout was a wonderful opportunity to connect with other Ivymount families.

Also, all Ivymount families are welcomed and encouraged to join us for our upcoming PTA meeting.

Zoom links will be sent shortly. In the meantime, mark your calendars.

PTA Board Vacancy

We are currently looking to fill the position of PTA secretary. This is the perfect position for a parent who is looking to get more involved with the PTA in a role that does not involve a major commitment of time. The main role of the PTA secretary is to take notes/minutes during PTA and Board meetings. As both meetings are currently being held virtually, the secretary’s job can be done completely remotely. If you are interested or would like to get more information, please email Cindy Gottfried at [email protected]

Thank you, from the Ivymount PTA!
