Important Message from Serra High School
Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to thank you all for taking the time to fill out our parent survey that was sent to you last month. We were overwhelmed by the number of responses and the positive feedback we received. Approximately 75 percent of parents responded to the survey. Thank you!

If you recall, half of you received our annual performance survey to evaluate our academic, spiritual and extracurricular activities and the other half completed a strategic planning survey focused on technology use, communication, advancement and student life. Both surveys were designed to help inform our strategic planning, and we are so grateful for the thorough, well-crafted responses we received from you all.  We wanted to share a few highlights in key areas.  (The percent indicates parents who agree or strongly agreed with the statement.)

Improvement
  • In terms of priorities for building improvements, you indicated that the academic wing was priority one, followed by student open spaces and the library. This insight affirmed the direction we are moving!

While we still have considerable work to assess all of the survey results, your insights are invaluable to us in evaluating our current program and in our efforts to sharpen our vision for the future of Serra.

Planning for 2020 - 2021 school year
We have received questions regarding our plans to safeguard student health, ensure student learning and support our faith community during the 2020-2021 school year in light of the ongoing health crisis. At this time, we are in conversation with the Archdiocese of San Francisco, the Superintendent of San Mateo County schools and the San Mateo County Health Office regarding all planning considerations. Their research is responding both to local health data as well as the experience of schools throughout the world. We anticipate these discussions to coalesce into specific guidelines over the next few weeks.  As these plans solidify, we will use this direction to develop concrete plans applicable to Serra in the 2020-2021 school year. We will be communicating further as these plans are developed.

Sincerely,

Charlie McGrath
