“Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.”
(Eph. 5: 1-2)
Last week in one of my private devotions with the Lord, my heart was pierced within to reveal some simple but important reasons why Jesus was sent to live among us. I wanted to view Jesus’ human experience from a very basic and simple perspective to which all men could relate by intentionally looking at His life without giving any consideration to the multitude of miracles He performed.
It was clear that:
Jesus was sent to Love us:
“...the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.” (Gal. 2:20)
Jesus was sent to Forgive us:
“bearing with one another and forgiving each other, whosoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.” (Col. 3: 13)
Jesus was sent to Serve us:
“just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Matt. 20: 28)
Jesus was sent to Teach us truth:
“I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. (John 14: 6)
Jesus was sent to Save us:
“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was Lost.” (Luke 19:10)
Jesus was sent to Redeem us:
“For He delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom
of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Col. 1:13 -14)
Jesus was sent to Die for us:
“But God demonstrates His own Love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5: 8)
Therefore, when we take into consideration all of the above, we have no excuse why we can’t imitate the very same behaviors towards our families, our brethren and our neighbors. It is certainly possible to follow His example, His walk, His way, without needing a miracle to succeed in doing so. Amen!
In Him,
Brother Craigwell
