GENERAL
HUNGRY STUDENTS ALERT
Now through winter break, the cafeteria is offering curbside pickup for FREE breakfast and lunch every school day from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm. This program is open to any student 18 and under and recipients do not need to be enrolled in PVPUSD. No pre-order is required. All meals include an entrée, choice of milk and seasonal fruit and vegetables. Menus are at pvpusdschoolnutrition.net.
 
SUBSCRIBE TO "THE PEN"
If you want to stay on top of school and community news, then a subscription to Pen's newspaper is a must. For only $25 a year, you will receive a monthly issue in the mail. Fill out this form, include your payment (cash or check) made out to PVPHS Newspaper with 2020-2021 newspaper subscription in the check's memo line. Bring your subscription to Pen and put it in Mrs. DeMeyer's mailbox in the Hawthorne Office. Or you can mail checks only to PVPHS: Attention Jamie DeMeyer. If you prefer, you may also pay on Peninsula's website with a credit card. It's easy and you're supporting our budding journalists.
 
LIBRARY HOURS
The library is open to pick up textbooks, outside reading books and workbooks from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm every school day. Please stop at the Main Office before coming down. You may also call Ms. Gutierrez at (310) 377-4888 x42602 with reference questions and book suggestions.
 
MU ALPHA THETA
All returning members must submit their returning member contract and returning member grade verification form to "Mu Alpha Theta Members" on TEAMS as one pdf by TOMORROW, Sept. 23 at 2:00 pm. Email [email protected] with questions.
 
ONLINE S.A.T. PREP BOOTCAMP
It's that time of year when DB Academics offers their SAT Bootcamp to help students learn the best test-taking strategies, techniques and problem solving approaches. This is also a fund raiser for our PTSA. The bootcamp will be online via Zoom this weekend on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9:00 to 11:00 am and 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and again on Sunday, Sept. 27 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. SAT SEPTEMBER TEST
PV High will NOT be a SAT testing site in September. Students and families who signed up for that testing date will be notified directly by email from the College Board of the closure.

COLLEGE CAREER CENTER
COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE SERIES
The virtual College Knowledge Series continues TODAY at 5:00 pm with Understanding Financial Aid, presented by Jessica Medina of USC. Four main topics relating to financial aid for college will be covered. Registration is required.
 
The College Knowledge Series resumes this Friday, Sept. 25 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm with Common Application Crash Course. It will teach strategies to approach and flesh out every section of your college application to bring you to life for the admissions officer. Details are available on the CCC page of the PVPHS website. Registration is required and the deadline to enroll is Thursday, Sept. 24 at 5:00 pm. No late registration permitted. VIRTUAL COLLEGE REP VISITS
The CCC has scheduled virtual college visits through November. Two to three schools will be combined per visit and all meetings are in conjunction with PVHS. You must register on Naviance by 3:00 pm the before the event in order to attend. Teacher permission for visits scheduled during class time must be obtained by the Friday before the visit. Included in this week's visits are the University of Hawaii; George Washington University; Emerson; Loyola University Chicago; University of Chicago; University of South Florida; Purdue; and Westmont. If you signed up for the virtual college visit TOMORROW, Sept. 23 during class time, you must submit a teacher permission request to attend. This form is required even if you don't have a class during this time. Included in the visit on Wednesday are Sacred Heart University; Salve Regina University; Babson College; Bryant College; University of Iowa; University of Pittsburgh; and the University of Washington, Seattle.
