Friend,
I had a busy week traveling through our district and meeting with many constituents, small businesses, farmers, and local organizations. I visited Clayton, Allamakee, Winneshiek, Howard, Mitchell, Worth, Bremer, Black Hawk, and Buchanan Counties just this week!
On Tuesday, I met with the Clayton County Economic Development Group in Elkader to discuss economic development prospects that will keep the community growing and thriving, specifically the need for more housing options and growing a skilled workforce. Next, I visited TASC, Inc. in Waukon to learn more about their work to improve the lives of those with disabilities and the compassionate care they provide to their clients.
In Decorah, I toured Helping Services for Youth & Families, an incredible organization that offers essential resources for family education and those suffering from domestic abuse. They also have an impactful youth mentoring program that has reached so many young people in the area. We ended the day with a tour of Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco to learn more about the essential medical services they provide to our community.
Yesterday, I toured Wayne Fredericks’s family farm in Osage and saw firsthand the conservation practices our farmers use to help the environment while continuing to feed and fuel the world. Next, I visited Fringe and Lace by Brittany, a small business in Northwood. I met with the owner, and we discussed how she was able to keep her doors open amid the pandemic and policies that will help her business continue to succeed.
Then, I headed to Waverly to meet with city officials on issues impacting the local community, including the need for targeted infrastructure investments. We wrapped up the day at the ribbon cutting for the new Silos & Smokestacks headquarters in Waterloo. Silos & Smokestacks does an incredible job preserving and sharing the story of Iowa agriculture, and I was honored to participate in last night's ceremony.
I wrapped my county tour stops at the Independence Municipal Airport today. I received an update from their team, and we discussed the need to prioritize infrastructure investment at rural airports.
I am excited to bring the feedback and input I received across the district this week back with me to Washington. Using Iowans’ stories and experiences to help shape policy will help me best serve you and
your families in Congress.

Best,
